“I grew up in Powell River and always wanted to take my kids to the Patricia Theatre. I did on my last trip back. It was great. Hadn’t changed at all from the 1980s and I hear it’s now the oldest movie theatre in Canada. When I was a kid there was a nice older man that would play the pipe organ at the front of the theatre before the movie started. Sadly he’s passed away but everything is still there although it’s not played anymore. I was amazed at how nothing had changed at all. It’s like stepping back in time. Downside is when we arrived we were told they didn’t take credit card but to their credit they said I could bring cash by later and they gave me the cash to buy tickets and popcorn and I paid them back later in the day. You don’t see that kind of service or trust very often anymore. Can’t recommend it enough while in PR.”

“Fun and comfortable experience! The seats are "traditional" in that they are a bit uncomfortable but the popcorn made up for it!”

“4 stars because it's one of the very few Cineplex theatres that finally have recliner seats that you can reserve while buying your ticket online or at the theatre. They play a lot of South Asian films here and it's really crowded. Like all the time, every day of the week so try to purchase your tickets online in advance to avoid the long lineup at the box office.”

“This is a small auditorium near the UBC music school and five minutes walk from Chan Centre. The building is quite unassuming but, has a nice feel inside, has tall windows on both sides and a small balcony. According to the information on the website the building was fully renovated in 2010. The acoustics is good. But the balcony seats are too close for tall people. The guy next to us had a hard time seating straight. We came here recently for a piano competition. Three students played three different piano concertos. We thoroughly enjoyed Schumann’s piano concerto. It was a great performance by Jaeden Izumi-Dzurko, who is studying music at UBC. We plan to come more often. The ticket prices are very attractive. And the music is good.”

“Love their reclining comfy chairs. Most comfortable theater I've been to. I especially liked how there wasn't another person in the entire theater, got to watch the movie with my girl alone ;)”

“Who doesn't love a drive-in? Haven't been to one in years...this one did not disappoint. Cheap entry fees, and the concession prices are really good as well. Sure, you can bring your own snacks, but they don't gouge you like a regular theatre, and it helps keep the place going. I hope this place stays around for the long haul, because we'll be back!”

“Went to see Rocketman with friends. No lineup it was easy to buy tickets. The seat screen was not working properly but that was not a problem for the ticket seller we just told her which seats we wanted and it was done. The theater was clean and tidy. It is always interesting to see the previews if movies coming up.”

“Good deal, great selection of movies, reasonable concession, usually quiet audiences. Only downsides small screen and UVic charging for night parking”

“The theater is fine compared to its age and has many different screens but the screen quality is not great. The 3D movie was a little too dark. The movie theater didn't actually turn down the lights on the side all the way but left a few making it really difficult to keep focus on the movie, specially on the small screens.”

“for less then $20 I can enjoy a great show with a large organic popcorn with real butter and N yeast plus a large drink. I get to meet real people who love to talk with me and I feel great for supporting my local businessperson. try to get that in Vic or Van. or sit at home again with Netflix.”

“Love this cute smaller cinema, less busy, less crowds for a better price too! We don't necessarily have to watch a movie when it debuts in the big theatre. Watched the Mule which was great, we hadn't been to this cinema since a couple of years. Liked the renos they did a couple of years ago.”

“This is the best cinema I’ve ever been to. I usually go with my family sometimes on Saturday to watch a kid movie, and it’s pretty cheap to be honest! It’s 2$ on Saturday at 11AM. And all the movies are interesting to watch. I would recommend going to this cinema. Love it!”
