recently camped there this past weekend,
its a beautiful beach and a beautiful campground.
but id like to make a comment about a couple things.
1. the washrooms, i wish they would have more around
2. the walk to the actual beach. it was a 20 minute walk to the beach from our campsite. i understand this isn't that far but it would've been nice if it was closer.
just a personal opinion, would possibly camp here again
The beach is so huge and beautiful with soft, white sand like Florida. Unfortunately there was a lot of algae this year, but everywhere seems to be having that problem. It didn't stop us from enjoying the beach and swimming. The water was shockingly warm. Bath water warm! Because it is such a large lake the winds and waves are unpredictable. Our young kids hated the big waves many days but some days it was like glass. We loved the boardwalk and the beach front shops and food. A really fantastic beach, second to none in MB.
Another big beach highlight is the sand dunes. So much fun.
The town doesn't offer a lot compared to other MB resort towns like Clear Lake or Falcon Beach, however. It appears run down at first appraisal. But it grew on us and it has some great restaurants and some very nice gift shops and playground.
We stayed 8 nights in the campground and we really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful brand new shower facilities ($1per 3 minutes including large family showers). The campground is very private with loads of trees. Only one playground but it is very nice. Large sites but they are pure dirt and rocks. We wish there were was more grassy areas for the tent and for the kids. Everything was filthy all the time!
Overall we loved our stay and would return again for both day trips and camping.
Nicest beach in Manitoba! The sand is so nice it feels like you are on a resort down south. There was a pretty bad algae problem when we were there but they have been having algae problems all over Manitoba this year. Definitely worth checking out. It is a park tho so you do have to pay to get a park pass.
What a fun day for the kids! Great sand and nice water. It doesn't get too deep which is nice for the little ones. They have great lifeguard patrols as well.
Grand Beach is the closest you will get to an ocean experience in the middle of the continent. The sand is beautifully white, and the lake is so large you forget you are inland at all. Concessions were great, with good variety, and the boardwalk is newer and kept very tidy. Would have liked options to rent things such as boogie boards. Have not explored other areas of the park at this time.
