Awesome place beautiful trails and scenery
Was my 1st time hitting the trails in the park! Was beautiful out there! The site we stayed at was well maintained! Just like the trails!
Everyone we met on the trail was nice and friendly!
Already have plans to go out in the fall! There is alot of high points so can't wait to check out the fall Colors!
I hiked the Spruce, Juniper and new Cedar loop at Epinette Creek on June 3, 2022 for a total of around 9.5 km.
The Spruce and Juniper loops lead mostly through open grasslands with a mix of forested sections. There is a new Spruce Alternate loop that stems off from the main trail which leads to the second cabin. This trail led along the creek and had some nice views. At the second cabin, there is an outhouse, water pump, fire pit and wood cabin with stove.
Shortly after this spot, there is a junction with a sign for the 3.7 km Cedar Loop. This loop is newly developed and was my favourite part of the hike! The loop follows along the creek as it leads along higher ridges overlooking the creek/surrounding hilly landscape, forests, and down at the creek level. There were some ups and downs for a bit more of a challenge! There are a couple signs along the way with the option of a shortcut or scenic route - always take the scenic route! There were some beautiful viewpoints along the way! We also spotted two hognose snakes along the trail which was cool. The new signage was great and the trail was easy to follow. The campground office also has new maps to show where the loop is.
I loved the variety of landscapes, scenery and elevation changes on this trail. Would highly recommend the Cedar Loop!
Today was cool and windy, but once we got into the shelter of the trees and took the fabulous new trail off the Spruce Loop, such beauty!!
Really nice hiking trail for all the seasons. You can get to one of the four cabins to have a pinic. Well kept trails and facilities.
