A welcoming home with historic charm and beauty. The hosts are so inviting and friendly you feel at home. Just outside of the main hustle and bustle you’re close enough to enjoy the amenities and attractions while enjoying privacy and scenery. The gazebo and waterside seating were a lovely treat to take in the views and relax into the evening. Overall this is a wonderful location to rest and recoup on your travels. We will certainly be back with friends and family in the future.
Friends and I stayed at A Seafaring Maiden recently (July 2022) and I have nothing but great things to say about my experience. The B&B, a 19th-century heritage home in Granville Ferry is tastefully decorated and peppered with antiques all around. The rooms are cozy, comfortable, and well-appointed; mine had great views of the Annapolis River. And then the best reason for staying at the "Maiden" - the hosts, Ann Marie and Bill, who are friendly, accommodating, and happy to cater to one's every whim. In fact, there were so many calls with Ann Marie while I was in the planning stages that when we landed on their doorstep, it was like we were old friends. And that's kind of how I felt during my four-day stay at A Seafaring Maiden - like an old friend staying upstairs. Highly recommended.
We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely B&B. The room was lovely, it had a comfortable bed with a good sized bathroom. The breakfast was delicious! The hosts, Bill and Anne Marie, were charming and helpful. We'll definitely stay here again when we're in the Valley.
Overall, we had a really lovely overnight getaway to Seafaring Maiden. The house is breathtaking and the owners put a lot of time and attention into making it warm and welcoming.
We arrived a tiny bit late but they didn't miss a step. They met us as the door, welcomed us in, showed us to our room and made sure we had what we needed. They let us know that breakfast would be at 830am. We were asked if we had dinner yet, and when we said we hadn't, the co-owner had lots of local recommendations which were very helpful!
When we returned to the BnB after dinner, it was such a relaxing place that truly feels like home. It was warm, and bright. Even some of the common areas had thoughtful little touches. You can tell they have been doing this for quite some time! We had wanted a night time tea, but could only find coffee on the little beverage station, so we will know to ask next time.
We absolutely loved our room. While the bed was a good size and we LOVED the flannel sheets (I never would have imagined they are so lovely!!), the bed was a bit creaky and made noise whenever we turned over. The pillows were a tad soft for our liking, but, pillows are such a personal preference. We both had an excellent, comfortable sleep.
We tried to wake up early to catch the sunrise but the clouds spoiled our fun. Regardless, seeing more of the property in the fresh air was nice. They have a firepit and a gazebo with a lovely conversation set for the warmer months. We hope to return next summer for another visit!
As we walked back to the house, we could smell breakfast. Although we were a bit early, the hosts graciously welcomed us into the beautiful dining room and seated us. Fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee and tea, all presented with antique dishes. It was like a dream! Breakfast was excellent - quiche Lorraine, hot tea biscuits, fresh fruit and a blueberry lime jam. Yummy!! I must have sat there for an hour savoring every bite. They were gracious and patient and very attentive! The other guests were lovely and we had great conversation.
Overall, we had a very lovely stay and enjoyed getting to know the owners. We look forward to a future visit - and hopefully another chance to spend some time with the resident kitty, Edward.
We only stayed one night but wished we could have been there longer! The Captains room decor was awesome. Bill and Anne Marie were great hosts. We absolutely loved eating breakfast with other travellers. A must stay!
