Piers was very much safety oriented. He checked weather forecast before offering us kayak rent. We received detailed safety instructions of what to do on the water. In addition we got details about area and where we can paddle. Kayaks and other equipment seems to be new and in great condition. Safety vests very comfortable. Kayaks also equipped with rudder which makes steering very easy even for inexperienced paddlers. Great experience and lots of area to paddle and explore.
Relaxed friendly owner, Piers, fit us in on a busy day. Self guided or organized with a guide, the kayak shack provides the gear and knowledge for a great outting.
Kayaks are clean and in good repair. A route is reviewed as you can take your own self guided tour.
Tours are also provided including a tour of the famous oak Island.
Bring your phone because when we went the door was closed and we texted him. He responded within 5 minutes and we arranged a rental for the following day.
Cash or e transfer only.
Highly recommended for a relaxing paddle on the Atlantic.
The best time I had in Nova Scotia since arriving July 11th... it was an absolutely healing experience for my soul being back out on the water again after more than 30 years. It was all thanks to the owner/instructor who headed the 2-person kayak, as I remembered very little of my past experience on one. The weather was absolutely perfect; the scenery and other boats were spectacular; we passed by her lovely family around by the Chester back harbour & stopped a few minutes to say hello; and it was an entirely perfect experience that I will long remember. Could not possibly recommend more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️>😇👍
It's a small place, but they know what they are talking about. The are is fantastic for kayaking, amazing views.
Amazing to rent a kayak from Chester Basin. Instructor was very good and kayaking in that area is something you need to see yourself.
