“What a great place to get a feel for traditional lifestyles in this part of the world. Started off with lunch in the museum store (local dish, Rappie pie - either you like it or you don't). Tour consists o two salvaged houses (with backstories on the original owners), an old post office, a blacksmith (with a functioning forge), a boat shop (dorries under construction), a fish factory (hand made salt cod - tasty), and a fish shanty (equipment storage and repair). The docents were exceptional with personal knowledge of the area and the times depicted. Lot of fish tales, so to speak. Well worth the time, especially on a beautiful day.”

“This is such a unique place to visit steeped in local history and lore! The Bell Tower is a must where you can look out over the inner islands and 3 lighthouses are visible from that vantage point. This is to be a "must -do" on anyones list while travelling through the South Shore. And bonus! It is free , no admission charge. ( either way it would still be a place not to miss!!)”

“Yesterday my family and I had the pleasure of experiencing a whale tour with this company. Dean - our captain - was extremely knowledgeable about the sea life and was able to answer any and all questions we had - not to mention was a delight to have as a tour guide. I was in awe to not only be able to see whales - in addition- dean brought us to see seals, sea birds AND caves. Truthfully these were all amazing things to see but the views were UNMATCHED. We were able to see the trail from the most beautiful view - it could not be put into words. This was truly a breathtaking experience accompanied by and incredible guide and we couldn’t be more happy. I will tell everyone and anyone that if they are in this area, this would definitely be something to check off your bucket list. Thanks to Dean and his family for providing an amazing experience for my family and I - we will definitely be back.”

“Small and very manageable with lots to explore. The fact that it's a reproduction actually meant that you could touch things, which made it WAY more interactive and engaging for kids. In fact, this is where we discovered Parks Canada's Xplorers program, and our kiddos came to look forward to their "quests" at other sites during our vacation! Friendly and informative staff. “This is Canada's birth place! Fort Anne and Port Royal Habitation were pivitol in the making of what we now know as Canada. Lovely site, well maintained grass and yard. Lots of parking and is pet friendly as well. You can see the cannons, and hills surrounding its Fort from every angle. During the summer there is often many cafes open, and restaurants in the quaint little town of Annapolis Royal.”

“Beautiful spot! Was a bit hesitant to go in first because of the highish entrance fee ($16?) forgot exactly how much, but we ended up spending over 2 hours in there that made it well worth it. There is a little cafe situated in the middle of the gardens. The flowers were beautiful, scenery beautiful and landscaping well done. definitely a lot to see and enjoy if you’re into this type of thing.”

“Really great place to learn about the earlist English settlers in Nova Scotia (the Planters). Our docent was exceptional (born and bred in the area) and filled in all the blanks regarding who and when. It's another example of local individuals stepping in to prevent the demoltion of historic buildings and to contribute to their restoration. Some of the history was ugly, but as our guide pointed out, if you don't confront the past, you can't correct the future.”

“We’ve been trying to visit this place and to catch a good stargazing forecast for some time, and we were so glad we managed last summer. That was a spectacular experience! Thank you Tim and Amanda for your hospitality, sharing your stories and knowledge! Amanda was so welcoming and explained every detail of our stay. This is a place to relax, to enjoy the moment and to learn something new. The bubble was super comfortable, it was cozy inside and very warm during the night. There are a few fire pits, you could do kayaking or just watch the sunset over the river. The observation experience was informative. We loved the part when Tim showed constellations just on the sky! “I was at the cultural centre about 15 years ago when I first moved to NS. I found it to be so interesting, and I'd hoped to go on a medicine walk, but sadly never got to it. Now the centre is gone due to a fire in the community. The people I met with at the centre were so friendly, generous, knowledgeable, and absolutely kind. I'm so sorry it's gone.”
