“I don't think I have been a patient at the Beacon program and I don't really know how long it has been running. I was very depressed when I came out of a second vehicle accident. I took nerve pills and sometimes even Demerol to get me through the really bad times. When I got home after the first accident I must have had some brain damage because I couldn't talk right. Words came out jumbled and not understandable. I would have to excuse myself and wait for a while and then if I would take my time I would be able to speak better. Even today when I want to give a five minute bible reading I have to read it a dozen times to get so I can remember much of it and then I can read it fine. It did take some getting use to but I've endured and still have to take nerve meds but I can get by so that is as much as I can expect in a world that doesn't understand the pain you suffer when taken out of the work field and thrown to the lions of government bureaucracy. They give you a little and then you are alone again to face the problems as a person with physical and mental disabilities. We definitely need programs like this one to help us in our endeavor to be just close to normal and to be treated with kindness and not pity but love without hypocrisy (Agape Love). Help all you can because you never know when it may be your turn to walk those burdensome streets into oblivion or very close to it.”

“Dr DeLange was able to easily identify the issues I was having with my foot, as well as enlighten me on several other issues relating to my general foot health. He explained everything, breaking down my foot situation into layman terms without sacrificing the technical perspective of foot mechanics. Dr DeLeange did this by pressing on my foot in different places and manipulating my toes during his explanation. His method really helped to show me just how the foot functions. He was also able to answer all of the questions the surgeons could not. He confirmed my suspicion that the procedure used by the surgeon was in fact, not a good option. He recommended several options moving forward. The first was to use a special foot bathing technique that would help me regain the lost mobility in my remaining “good”toes. I noticed an immediate improvement after only one day. He also recommended a shoe with a heel to help with my high arches and lower back pain. Receiving consultation from Dr DeLange was a wonderful experience. Dr DeLange’s knowledge base and practice methods were truly incredible. His office was clean and well organized. He observed the highest standard of safety and professionalism I have encountered during the COVID pandemic. The confidence in the way Dr DeLange spoke, the structured sequence to his treatment, and his genuine compassion to help, really set him apart from any medical practitioner I’ve ever met. Dr DeLange’s knowledge and application as a podiatrist were beyond reproach. You rarely meet someone who’s a real master of their trade. In this instance, I can confidently say Dr DeLangeis the Obi-Wan Kenobi of podiatrists and foot medicine!”

“The Yoga Barn is the perfect place to practice yoga and meditation. The sense of peace you feel looking out over the fields is part of the experience. The warmth in the barn from the infrared panels and heated floors envelops you. The Yoga Barn is a 100 year old renovated barn located in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia surrounded by farm land. Jenny, the owner and yoga instructor, has the perfect tone and cadence in her voice and the ability to describe the poses and keep you in the moment. She is an excellent yoga instructor. She offers classes for beginners, vinyasa flow(begins and ends with yin stretches), hot yoga and yin(extended stretch poses). All great for flexibility, circulation, balance and strength not to mention your mental well being. Once a month she offers yoga Nidra (sleep yoga is what I call it). It’s value is immense to anyone with sleep issues or for example, a new parent! I believe that 10min of nidra = to about 4 hours regular sleep. She also offers instructor courses at the barn. It’s a unique and wonderful experience if you can join a class.”

“I find the staff very friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. I have had a few things done besides just cleaning. They have replaced some old fillings, put a crown on and just recently I had a tooth pulled the was crowding out some other teeth. Every experience has been top notch with very little to no pain. I'm the nervous type at the dentist but these guys are awesome and I feel as relaxed as I can be and always leave satisfied”

“I did not attend the spa here but I attended the karate class that goes on in the back studio twice a week and it is awsome! The karate class is educational but fun and the instructors are beyond amazing! Such a fun and educational way for me and my daughter to bond and spend time together! Although I did not attend the spa here from what I have seen it is very small but very classy! Do not know the prices though.”
