“Red Head Beach House is the perfect combination of stillness and beauty with the best combination of water enjoyment. From the spacious back deck that directly overlooks the lake, you can hear the waves pounding on the ocean beach, a short and private walk away. This property is very high end, with heated tile floors, an awesome bath and shower, great kitchen and lots of space inside and out. Although it has three very comfy queen beds (one downstairs) ... our 18 & 20 year old sons found the bunk beds perfectly suitable for a great night's sleep as well. Although it had no internet, our computers had coverage through Bell. This place would also be great for three couples or a group of friends looking to enjoy space and time. It is a three hour drive from Halifax - a bit of a drive and yet, if you are looking to disconnect, this is just the property to do that.”

“Beautiful park with kayak access right to the harbor and a rail trail for biking going right through. Downtown Shelburne is easy to bike to and explore. We had a tent site on the water but unfortunately had a noisy RV right next to use that was perhaps too big for that spot. The sites away from the water seem to be larger and more spread out. All reservations are online or over the phone. The office isn't manned and only maintenance people are on site. The people booking over the phone don't know the sites and we witnessed a couple who were put into sites they couldn't fit in and had to call back. The "campground hosts" were very nice but I wish they had meet and greet camp fires like some other parks I've been to. Overall had a great time and would definitely return.”

“We hosted our wedding dinner and reception here last year (July 2022) and it was fabulous. It was so easy working with Emilie and Nakul to create a perfect meal in an intimate setting. We hosted a small wedding with under 20 people. The back room and adjoining patio fit our needs perfectly. Having private access to the patio off the dining room allowed for us to begin with a standing reception outside before sitting down to dinner. It also provided a space for the small children to have fun. Emilie and Nakul were exceptionally responsive and accommodating in the lead up and during the dinner. The menu options were exciting and catered to a lot of different tastes. We offered both vegetarian and meat options. Salads and pork belly appetisers. Veggie curry, slow-roasted beef for mains. About a quarter of our guests were children and Nakul managed to put together beautiful dishes for the younger guests too. Each course was exceptional! We highly recommend considering this place for your next event. It’s a charming restaurant in Shelburne’s historic district. We’re heading back soon for their Sunday brunch that we’ve heard is to die for. Looking forward to seeing the Charlotte Lane crew again!”

The staff are super friendly and informative and they have an awesome gift shop with lots of neat period trinkets. Make sure to ask about the window glass in the shop. We heard a really neat story on that!”

“They are not taking new clients so it’s doubtful you can become a patient anyway. As summer visitors to Shelburne they reluctantly helped us when our dog with mast cell tumor needed to be put down. The service was preformed in a kind manner, yet it was scheduled several days after our desperate need. Who does that? Next Tuesday at 2 we can euthanize your dog? It was suggested I call later on to determine if they are taking new clients. Every time I call it’s a no-go. Of course we want a Vet close to our home in case of emergency. We don’t mind a yearly “well-check” visit, too. Unfortunately, this is not that kind of Veterinary clinic. The previous Veterinary Shelburne clinic was wonderful! Losing that kind of inclusive, caring, skilled clinic has been a terrible blow to a fabulous small town. The former clinic was not open every day but if you needed their help they welcomed you, they advised you, they did their best. Wish this new place would change their ways … or that another clinic would establish in Shelburne, NS.”
