Great place, we stayed with our family over this weekend and decided to stay another night. Great Customer Service from owners.
Thank you for accommodating us another night.
If someone going Tobermory/Flowerpot then this is best Motel to stay, as evening’s you can spend on Lion’s head area then next morning can go for boat conveniently.
I'd prefer to have left a 3.5 rating, but that's not an option. I submitted this review previously, but corrected some typos.
I do a lot of hiking in the North and South Bruce area a few times a year. So when I review motels in this area, the reviews are based of my own needs. I also stayed here in the off season (early fall) and thing could be different when the place is full occupancy (I can see it being loud).
I always preface by saying most of the motels in the area in this price range are aging buildings. The rooms and buildings will always have some condition issues based on that unless they have had a recent renovation. Cleanliness and service are my priority because the room is just a place for me to rest after hiking all day. The room was clean, and the appliances (coffee maker, fridge, fan) all worked fine. I never turned on the tv so I can't vouch for that.
The check in situation is different than you will find at most places. You arrive and use a phone at the front to call the owner off site. There is no lobby. You get instructions to get access to your room. The owner is polite and eager to answer any questions about the area (in my case I already know the area). I personally had no problem with this setup. Clearly other reviewers do, and I can understand people not being comfortable with this.
The location is fantastic. It's close to all the parks and trail heads. It's right near a gas station, which there aren't a lot of in that area (plus it opens at 6). The restaurant across the road is great, and Lion's Head is 5 minutes away.
Based on my personal needs for lodging when in the area, I'd return. If you are looking for luxury in the area and you plan on spending more time indoors, you'd be better off with a cottage rental or air bnb. You need to taper your expectations when visiting the area in general as far as motels in this price range.
Stayed for one night. Owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. My mom mentioned we would be arriving to the area before check in time so she got our room ready first and allowed us to check in early. When we arrived she was super helpful and gave us a map of the area and suggestions for places to visit and eat! Room was as advertised! The beds comfortable after a long day of hiking. There was a bar fridge in our room, plenty of towels and a coffee pot for the morning. Across the road is a convenience store with coffee available. Thanks for the great stay!
