“The best way to go back n forth to Manitoulin Islands from mainland Ontario. Magnificent sights through out the route and a very cool ferry with a huge parking lot for around 150 cars. There is a nice floating restaurant on the cruise and some really good seating spots on the rear side of the boat. The reservations are almost a must as if gets totally full on almost all weekends. Total of 3 trips per day from both sides are planned well to cater to all your plans and definitely worth the experience. Definitely recommend this route instead of going all the way up North through the road bridge in Little Currents. Not too much of time difference but a lot more convenient and relaxing journey worth every penny.”

“My husband and I just left Coconut Joes and it was the kind of meal, where you want to hug the chef after! The meal was so delicious, we didn’t want it to end! We had the coconut shrimp, mussels and all three tacos and we had all positive things to say about them! The drinks were so yummy and the details the bartender put on them were so cute and made the experience that much better! Our server Lex was wonderful! She was very informative and did such a wonderful job making our experience so great! Michael the owner was there while we were enjoying our meal and it was so nice to see him interacting with costumers and you could see his passion towards his restaurant! Thank you for the best experience, we can’t wait to return!! Plus it was our honeymoon so it made it so much better!!!”

St. Edmunds and Peninsula Museum

Address: 7072 Hwy 6, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada

Museum Point of interest Establishment Tourist attraction

“This tiny museum is located just outside main Tobermory. It's steeped in history and dates back nearly 200 years. There is no admission fee but they look forward to donations. Basically it is 2 small buildings - one is the old school and the other is the log cabin they stayed in. Note that the log cabin was situated in main Tobermory ( on rent i believe )but was relocated when the landlord wanted his property back. It was brought to the current address and reconstructEd- nearly 50 years back. The main school building is full of relics and stuff you probably have never seen. It was actually a school back in the day - there is a bell outside which was rung to call kids into school. You need to go and see the history in that building as it's hard to explain. Old attendance registers along with cursive hand writing sheets are there for all to see. Not sure if they have heritage status as yet but seriously think that the appropriate authorities need to look into. The 2 ladies there were really knowledgeable and friendly - go see the appliances they have and how Canada managed back then. Parking is available on site and its free. We need to understand and appreciate the resilience of people from that age - how they learnt and adapted to the times. For example back then no corporates made butter - it was made in house using age old appliances and techniques. See the pictures I have posted and you will understand.”

On the Water Kayaks

“I highly recommend checking out this kayaking service in the Tobermory area. The process of paying, getting our life jackets, our paddles, and getting set up in our kayak was very simple and easy. Everyone was very friendly and we had a great time! I would recommend the 1hr max because you’re restricted to the bay of Tobermory and an hour is way more than enough time! Overall it was a very cool experience and you can even see some of the sunken ships as well.”

“We just left the Orange Bicycle Cottage, I wish we had a few more days. So relaxing, there and so many places to see nearby. We really enjoyed all of it. The cottage had everything you could ask for. Great coffee machine including coffee and all the beds were so comfortable I slept better than at home. We didn’t have to buy or bring anything, every detail was taken care of. So comfortable, roomy and we loved the style. The property and surrounding area were so much fun to explore. Everything was close by. The parks, water, stores and boat tours couldn’t have worked out better. The people were friendly and our hosts Neda and Nick were awesome. They made us feel like we were old friends. Perfect vacation property and area. Lots of pics and memories!”

“I highly recommend you visit the Parks Canada Visitor Centre. There is a lot to learn about Canadian geography and history where there is a museum. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They can provide valuable information about places to visit. Another piece of advice you will hear from them is "please don't litter the Parks". And I am repeating this advice since it is a big issue. Keep the Parks clean!!”

We highly recommend the team at And-Rod if you are looking to build or renovate on the Peninsula. We hope to use him again in the future!”

Grandview Motel

Address: 8 Earl St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada

Lodging Point of interest Establishment

“Just spent 4 wonderful days here. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely done. Lovely areas for sitting outside on 3 different decks. The view of the chi-cheemaun coming in and out is great as well as other boat tours. Lovely sunsets as well. Close enough to town you can walk but quieter than in town. I would definitely recommend this quaint little motel. Very clean. Thanks This is not the motels fault…..My only issue was out of the 4 nights 3 were interrupted with noisy people in the room next door. 2 nights were one set of customers, 1 night was a different bunch. There should be someone to contact when there’s an issue. I did send a text to a cell number that was on my email confirmation but didn’t get a reply.”

Visitor center watch station

“🌄 In Tobermory Visitor Center, the watch station (observation deck) offers an excellent panoramic view of the Bruce Trail and Georgian Bay. Dog-friendly space (at additional cost) was a big motivator for choosing this location. Usual hotel amenities like soap and towels were provided. I really appreciated that they thought to provide a space heater for the cooler nights. Would highly recommend!”
