Shenstone Motor Inn

I am giving this a "good" review because my needs were very basic (2.5 stars would be my ideal rating). I needed a place to crash for one night while hiking the Bruce area. The location when doing a trip like this is ideal, and that is the primary factor in my review. The staff I met were also great.

The room, and building, and the grounds just are not in great shape though and did not match photos I saw. I did not feel my room had had a really good cleaning. As a non smoker I was also not happy with the cigarette but cans and butts around the door area outside. The TV and WiFi were not big factors in my stay, but neither worked. Being that I was literally only sleeping there for a night, I did not bring this up with the staff

The microwave, coffee maker and fridge were items I needed and they all worked fine. It looked like it had a large outdoor grounds which is likely good if you have kids. And again, a great location if you are planning on hitting sites in the area.

It should be stated that I have stayed in other motels in this area and they are very similar and have higher rates. It's a tough spot to find lodging in, especially with peak season rates. For my needs, it was fine for a night. But there is no way I could agree with 5 star reviews based on my stay. I don't think they will give people a realistic expectation and will possibly lead to frustration. Especially if they are planing a multi night stay.

Also, another reviewer mentioned it's 'city people' leaving the bad reviews. I am pretty far from a city person and am used to sleeping in all kinds of 2 star motels on the road. I feel my review is realistic.

Amazing hospitality.. dont listen to the rich city slicker snobs. They expect way to much. This isn't the Hilton.. so don't complain. We were very happy for the price we paid 😀 thank you Shenstone
