“I am giving this a "good" review because my needs were very basic (2.5 stars would be my ideal rating). I needed a place to crash for one night while hiking the Bruce area. The location when doing a trip like this is ideal, and that is the primary factor in my review. The staff I met were also great. The room, and building, and the grounds just are not in great shape though and did not match photos I saw. I did not feel my room had had a really good cleaning. As a non smoker I was also not happy with the cigarette but cans and butts around the door area outside. The TV and WiFi were not big factors in my stay, but neither worked. Being that I was literally only sleeping there for a night, I did not bring this up with the staff The microwave, coffee maker and fridge were items I needed and they all worked fine. It looked like it had a large outdoor grounds which is likely good if you have kids. And again, a great location if you are planning on hitting sites in the area. It should be stated that I have stayed in other motels in this area and they are very similar and have higher rates. It's a tough spot to find lodging in, especially with peak season rates. For my needs, it was fine for a night. But there is no way I could agree with 5 star reviews based on my stay. I don't think they will give people a realistic expectation and will possibly lead to frustration. Especially if they are planing a multi night stay. Also, another reviewer mentioned it's 'city people' leaving the bad reviews. I am pretty far from a city person and am used to sleeping in all kinds of 2 star motels on the road. I feel my review is realistic.”

“Real ice cream with real fruit. Coconut is very popular with shredded coconut in the ice cream. Heavenly hash has marshmallows. Generous scoops. The single serve compares to a lot of other ice cream stores double scoops. Ask for the mini if you don’t think you may finish it all. The cups are a better option as the serving size won’t allow for sufficient time to finish your ice cream before it melts all over you or your car seats! About 20 minutes away from Wiarton, expect to line up.”

“I haven’t experienced the place, however I have experienced their Thorn Tree, medium roast coffee. I received 12 oz. of beans, as a Christmas gift. The taste of this coffee had me Googling to find out if it might be possible to purchase some in the Port Stanley area. Unfortunately, I find myself outside the range of distribution. A great cup of coffee! Congratulations!”

“Spent a lovely evening on the patio having a few drinks and enjoying a stone baked pizza. Fantastic views and what looks to be a spectacular golf course (I did not play). Prices are reasonable and service was great. A short drive north of Owen Sound if you are looking for a higher end dining experience this is it. Dress how you like, as we saw everything from flip flops and shorts to fancy dresses and jackets. Enjoy.”

“Huge selection of ice cream, so there is sure to be something you like. They also do floats. You can get a regular cone, a bowl or a waffle cone. It is located inside Elsie’s Dinner and carries on the 50s nostalgia feel. It does have its own private entrance and there are brightly coloured picnic table just outside.”

“Went there with my dear friend for the first time today. Ample places to eat outside but we chose to eat inside to taking all the interesting memorabilia. The restaurant was so well decorated and the tables and chairs so new looking yet with the total 50s look. Dining there was like stepping back in time to the glorious 50’s. They played that uplifting retro music for the inside and the outside of the restaurant which added to the wonderful ambience. I am a picky vegetarian and I found a delicious black bean burger that was awesome. The fries were absolutely delicious. They tasted like they were fresh cut so I’m sure they were and they were the best I’ve had in such a long time! My friend had a strawberry milkshake that would have been the same one they drank in Happy Days and the big daddy burger that he said he was out of this world. I food took a little bit longer to cook and the absolutely delightful, friendly and kind server named Jamie offered us dessert on the house. We were so full though and we would have paid her anyway because she was a really fantastic waitress. The whole experience was absolutely wonderful and I recommend this restaurant to anybody passing through. In fact it’s so good I recommend people do big detours to get to this place!”
