Royal Botanical Gardens - Hendrie Valley Sanctuary (Cherry Hill

Address: Grindstone Marshes Trail, Burlington, ON L7T 1H1, Canada

Park

“One of best local walking trails. Usually quiet because lot of people come to see birds so they don't make much noise which is good. Birds may come and sit on you, so be friendly please. Feeding wildlife is prohibited bylaw, so I personally refrain from doing so whereas many people think they are helping wildlife by feeding them but they are in fact not. It makes brids lazy and dependant, there is a lot to eat for them in the nature and this law is there for a reason. Nice photo shoot area, may see Herons in winter if lucky, hawks and Snowy Owls too but chances are slim. Paid parking is easy, if full nearby parking lots available too.”

“Amazing place to explore. Only downfall is no bathroom, would really benefit having an outhouse at the start of the trail. Its so neat to be able to hand feed the birds. Definitely recommend checking it out and stop at the dollar store along the way to grab a bag of black sunflower seeds. They love those the best.”

“Great park during the summer weather for families. Park has a splash pad, play structure, baseball diamond, even lawn bowling. There are stairs down to the marina and you can watch the boats or fish off the pier. Only negative is no food nearby, try Easterbrook's (unfortunately not kosher) for hot dogs and ice cream, about a 5 minute drive west.”

“It was a treat to bring my mom and my aunts to the Royal Botanical Gardens. We spent a good 2.5 hours walking around and then driving over to the Rock Garden (also included in admission). Be sure and give yourself time because admission was not cheap. You will be glad you visited. We will come back in the spring or summer to see all the gardens in bloom.”
