No barriers. Nice little pocket of nature in the city. Walk by a steep valley with interesting species of trees. We looped around a trail for about an hour.
This is a 49 hectare plot of land belonging to McMaster University, but open to the public. There is ongoing research at this site so be careful not to go off trail or touch any equipment you see in the forest. Often you will run into scientists/students doing their field work along the trails. This area is accessible from the parking lot at Lower Lion's club road. There is one main trail that does a loop around the entire property that takes about one hour to walk (4 KM). The front field is a 4 year old tallgrass prairie which hosts a variety of unique prairie plant species. This is a great place to see birds, bees and many other creatures. This is the largest tallgrass prairie habitat in Hamilton. Trails are narrow, with some stumbling hazards. Poison ivy and ticks are present. Closed toe shoes and long pants recommended.
Beautiful trails and lots of birds
