My husband and I recently spent a romantic night at Touchstone Resort for my birthday. From the moment we stepped foot on the resort we both felt totally relaxed. Our room was tranquil, well appointed and the view from our deck was spectacular. Dinner at the Touchstone Grill was an "experience", our server was very attentive and did a fantastic job at recommending our dinner choices. Chef Michael came out during our meal to check on everything. His passion for the food he sources and serves was quite evident and very delicious! After dinner we enjoyed a traditional Muskoka campfire at one of the campfire pits. We will definately be back to take in all Touchstone Resort has to offer!
On first impression, Touchstone was absolutely fantastic! The resort is extremely scenic and a great attention to detail has clearly been put into every element of the landscaping and architecture. The beach area is small, but gives plenty of room for each of the guest parties that are there. The suite that we stayed in was perfect - roomy, spacious, and for the most part, clean. I was particularly impressed that they had a Chromecast provided for guests with the TVs! The one problem was that the suite's tub had filthy jets that sprayed a yellow liquid out of them, as though they had not been cleaned for a long time. Despite the resort staff being extremely friendly, they failed to address this issue and did not even send anyone to investigate. The pools and hot tubs are small, almost too much so give the amount of space surrounding them, but are refreshing after being in the lake. The vista is gorgeous from both your hotel room and pretty much anywhere on the resort.
If you're staying in Muskoka, Touchstone is definitely a top contender for a top-notch resort. I just wish that the attention and care that clearly went into the property also went into our concern when we raised it.
Very nice location with renovated restaurant and lounge area. The rooms are conformable, but not very soundproof so you will constantly hear people talking in the halls and in the adjacent rooms. The food at the restaurant was pretty good, but the service was a little slow considering I was one of only two people on the patio at the time. My biggest issue with the resort is the fact that you cannot charge drinks or food to your room, as I was informed by the staff that the restaurant is owned and operated by a separate company who leases the space from the resort, so you will need to pay in cash at the end of every trip to the bar/restaurant. At the end of the day it's not a huge deal, but can definitely an inconvenience. (And I'm sure that by now the staff are sick and tired of having to explain this to every guest that tries charging something to their room.)
