Friel Residence (FRL)

The farthest residence from campus is probably the most fun. If you’re social, there’s always people on the first floor playing pool or chatting. It’s right next to Loblaws with student discounts and it’s really not that far from campus (12 min walk to UCU, 18 min walk to SITE). Probably go to 90U or Annex residence if you’d rather stay in your room all day and not be social.

My daughter stayed there during her first year. She loved the location, her room, free laundry,close to Loblaws, easy to get to campus 12 min walk. Only problem : the hot water was barely existant for the whole year. That is a big problem when you pay over 8g. They are aware of this issue but no solution.. fix it!

Went to UOttawa for a conference and was given the opportunity to stay at their residence for cheap, considering its downtown location. ITS A SCHOOL RESIDENCE! My room came with beds, desks, microwave, and its own dedicated wifi router. Not recommended for business travelers. It is more like a quiet hostel.

Reasonable rates for no frill accommodation. Close to byward market. Walking distance to parliament Hill and nearby sites like national gallery. There is limited underground parking and should be available in summer when students are gone.

Staff at the front desk were very knowledgeable. The location itself is very good, a short walk away from a few grocery stores and the Rideau shopping center. The residence is clean and the rooms are larger than other residences I've visited. Plenty of common space to study and a friendly atmosphere among residents. Definitely check it out!
