“The PSWs , the nurse and staff, including the volunteers, are superb and very caring. Things I don't like - his room is a ward, which is all we can afford. With 4 beds it is too cramped with not enough space to put a chair for a visitor. He is wheelchair confined and other than for meals he spends most of his time in bed - therefore, I am worried about potential bedsores. A meeting was held with his care team where everything was addressed, even the dietician. I really feel the wards should be 3 beds only as it is so cramped. One other concern is that during mealtimes the PSWs are busy so if he requires help in the bathroom he can wait quite some time. If I've been there I often have to go chasing down a PSW for help. I can understand budget cutbacks where PSWs have to help serve the meal, but I feel one or two should be strictly assigned to assist those who push the call button for help. Other times he has been left in a diaper full of excrement for 2 hours or longer because PSWs were on their break, supper or busy. There have been some weeks where he has not received a shower because they were short handed in staff.”
