The Shady Nook

Sometimes, when you schedule a trip last minute, you've created a problem for yourself.

Everything is sold out! Overpriced! How am I going to take in world class theatre in a charming town without a comfortable bed?!?

Let me just say, The Shady Nook solves all of our problems, and more.

I've been going to Stratford for 20 years. I've stayed in many places, hotels, BnBs, and this home was one of my favorites!

The rooms were cozy (you can aptly read that as a little small), but that wasn't a major issue at all. I don't choose BnBs for room size, but for the community and the conversation.

Let me just say, Mollie is a National Treasure. She has a kindness and openness that warms your heart and sings to your soul. She was a gracious hostess who ensured our stay was everything we needed it to be.

David is the quiet man in the kitchen, and nothing short of a miracle worker. The breakfasts were delicious, and the scones simply heavenly.

There is a wonderful back porch and a well maintained pool - perfect for a nice morning dip before heading to the theatre. Speaking of - it's a nice walk to downtown for the shows.

The bottom line is this, if you read this review and don't book at The Shady Nook, you have denied yourself a slice of heaven.

Mollie and David were supberb hosts. Even before we arrived she took special note of my dietary concerns, which I so appreciated. Once we arrived they greeted and welcomed us like old friends. The accommodation was clean and they even allowed to check in early and have our lunch and dinner in the dining area. Breakfast was outstanding. David outdid himself by preparing my non-diary meal(Mollie noted that he experimented before I got there). Even with my allergy issues I had to try the scones which were sublime. I unhesitatingly recommend Mollie and David if you are thinking of visiting Stratford. This was service par excellence. See you on my next visit.

We knew this trip was off to an excellent start when Molly, our hostess, greeted us as we stepped out of the car. She made us feel so welcome and even though we had interrupted their dinner we were their first priority. The accommodation was very cozy and comfortable with multiple rooms to relax in and wonderful front and back porches to enjoy. David, our host, served us breakfasts that were nothing short of gourmet quality! Molly gave excellent suggestions for places to visit and to dine. We are already planning our next visit to them again in May 2020! Many thanks!

The accommodations were first-rate, and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious (and healthy too, thanks David!). The decaffeinated coffee option was much appreciated as well. Your recommendations for theatre, dining and local attractions were always perfect. The Shady Nook's central neighbourhood location is also ideal. We enjoyed lovely relaxing walks to the theatres, gardens, restaurants and the Avon River.

You made us feel quite at home at The Shady Nook. We're already looking forward to our return in 2019!
