Wonderful relaxing times at the beach waupoos. Great scenery and vineyards nearby. Wonderful beach right on the lake.
Wow!!! - this is the first reaction when we got there. The pictures look good, but the reality is even better. It is an amazing place, very well designed and maintained (with a few small exceptions, see below) and everything is high quality, which is a nice feeling in a world where everyone is going for cheap, especially in the tourism business.
We spent a wonderful 4 days there, it is beautiful and secluded. If you go in high season you have to go for a whole week which can be expensive.
The best: the nature is breathtaking and the (semi-) sandy beach is nice for children to play. The house is right on the water and has a deck in shade where we could eat and relax, but also a pavilion with a BBQ that we can use when rained. Luckily it did not rained a lot, but it did rain once so it was nice to still be able to eat outside.
For entertainment there is also a nice big grassy meadow for croquet or soccer or freebee or badminton or any other activity that requires some more space. Additionally there is a tennis court, but it is quite far, much further than advertised and we did not end up using it.
The best for activities were the boats. While not advertised when we booked the vacation there were a great surprise. I think the boats have significantly increase the quality of the vacation. They have a pedalo, 2 kayaks and 2 paddle-boards. We played a lot with those and our nearly 3 year old had fun with all 3 :)
The house has a lot of stuff from the owner, which is nice because there are games laying around that can be used by guests (we were told).
The no so great:
* There are only 2 adults life-jackets and 2 children so this creates a problem. Usually when boats are used, it is customary to have a wider selection of sizes of life-jackets or at least mention the limited selection in the welcome e-mail sent before arriving because many people who practice water sport or have a boat at home have their own so they should bring them. We have our own but we did not take them as we thought that they have some.
* The pedalo was a bit broken and the kayaks were a bit worn off.
But, for us the boats were a bonus (I think they are not listed in the web advert) so we enjoyed them.
* The high water (this is end of June 2017) damaged parts of the property and reduced the size of the beach and also it was a bit messy, but this is just bad luck and not really anyones fault.
