I was quite excited to check this winery out with my wife given the reviews; however we found the wine tasting experience just average during our visit. We had our tasting with Sherry and she was knowledgeable on the process and the wines, but it seemed to lack the experience as there were multiple parties she was juggling with. Before each pour we were provided information, but it lacked the depth in explanation as our room had quite a few people to be looked after.
Additionally, we found the wines to be quite expensive for a bottle purchase and the credits applied are not that great. 4 stars given due to the ambiance of the place and decent wines; however not my favourite wine in the region.
Went to this winery as per the recommendation of my co-worker. It was our first time here and the wines are pretty good. Their wines are reasonably priced and I really liked the petit pearl. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. Im only giving this 3 stars as the cashier moved very slow. There was a huge line-up while we were paying and she didnt seem friendly at all as we were cashing out. In addition, our hostess seemed so disinterested in assisting us when we first came in. It seemed like she preferred to attend to people who are white vs us Asians. This is something management should watch out for.
The service is great ! The wine is also very good and the tasting is not expensive for what you’re getting compared to other places in the area.
Only negative point is the food... 20$ for a small ziplock of chips with an apple and salsa/guacamole isn’t worth it.
Absolutely go there for the wine, but then eat somewhere else !
Have visited Karlo several times and always enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. It is definitely one of the more casual and easy going wineries in the area. They have outdoor and indoor areas, both are quaint in their own ways. The 1800s post and beam barn is beautiful and the barrel room is so cozy in the winter months! Just a quick bike ride from Wellington in the summer!
I find that service is very friendly and attentive but sometimes the staff aren’t very knowledgeable. In general the wine is ok and food pairings are a nice touch. My preferences are the pinot noir, pinot gris and three witches blend. They also have a great menu of vegan snack boxes and weekend live music on the side lawn.
On my most recent visit I was really impressed with their covid precautions.
