First time shopping at a value village. Went in to buy a leather coat for a project, just wanted the leather. Found a jacket where the lining was shredded, yes shredded. I thought, hey could use the leather. I got hold of a supervisor to see if they were willing to drop the price on it. Nope, telling me it's fixable. Hmmmm, no.
Well took it back to the rack and picked up an "ole hide house" leather jacket for 4$ more. If the style was current I would wear it. Otherwise it's good for my project. Overall experience, mehhh.
Almost always find what I'm looking for. Needed artwork for the kids' rooms and instead of finding one or two suitable items, I found about 10. Needless to say I should've budgeted a few more minutes as they were all so nice, it took forever to pick.
It is always nice to go to the Value Village regardless of the location. This location is nice and open. You have to go there often to find good deals. I usually go there for the books. You can pick up a book for the fraction of the list price and in good condition. There are clothes, electronics and other household items. You donate things that you do not need which helps creating jobs and also someone can use your stuff.
I've shopped at Value Village for years and have lucked out on many great items, clothing included. Nowadays I tend to go in for books; as I'm back in school, I've also used this place to find textbooks for additional support for my courses. I've had pretty good luck at the location by Winston Churchill and Dundas having some good textbooks that are fairly recent (within the last 7 years or so). You'll never know what you'll find, so check it out!
Value Village is my joint!! I watched a documentary on fast fashion and I rarely buy new clothes now. I think a lot of people should shop second hand for statement pieces. Those kinds of pieces that are vintage but always trendy. Styles get recycled because fashion is changing so fast. It used to be seasonally now some lines drop new pieces or collections monthly so "one mans trash is another mans treasure". If your a model, fashion blogger or stylist you probably know this already. There is almost no point in buying brand new styles when you can get them second hand after a few weeks or from other discount avenues. Unless you got it like that. Personally I'd rather save my coin for travel and investments. #valuevillageisdabomb
