Went on a guided ghost tour! It was really interesting! The guide new his history on the fort as well. My daughter felt little on edge like someone was beside her in the soldiers quarters. Thank you was a amazing time for the whole family, I would highly recommend the ghost walk.
My experience at fort george was fantastic and a place I will truly remember in grade 8. My tour guide Andrew was kind and gave a lot of information which I loved hearing. I enjoyed looking at the interesting artifacts and the musket demonstration was unbelievable.
Thank you so much to the crew of Fort George.
During the summer months the site is alive with people dressed and reenactments of the time during the War of 1812. Each of the buildings are well-documented and young students in the area are hired to play the part of soldiers and townspeople on site. They are knowledgeable of the history of the fort. There is ample parking for vehicles and the price of admission is reasonable. I recommend that you check out the entire fort.
What a pleasant surprise. Husband and I visited on a random weekend and we pretty much got the whole place to ourselves. It was a great history refresher day and the staff here are so enthusiastic and so upbeat. You can tell they really are passionate about what they do and the education they bring. Thank you so much for the experience and for making the war of 1812 so much easier to understand.
Great place to take kids .... even for adults to know the history..... you can see School trips and lots of visitors. Facts are nicely preserved and enacted.....staff is always happy to assist you with your questions.....kids can experience the games that kids would play back then....they put up gun shot show.... I guess every half an hour or maybe every hour.....a lot of tools have been kept there which were used back then in the fort and outside..... there is a live kitchen to what kind of utensils they used .... they make cookies over there.... they have preserved parts of the crockery used by all the different levels of officers.... there guns and pistols.... uniforms.... their beds .... their living styles..... this is a definite go to place..... you can see the staff dressed in clothes and uniforms from that time. A must go to place.
