Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Regi

Our beautiful cat, Charlie, fell severely ill on New Year’s Eve day. We took her to our regular vet, who initiated treatment, but couldn’t keep her as they were closing early. We took her home, but when she continued to decline, we brought her here to Dr. Malik for the critical care she so clearly required.

Needless to say, we were a mess, trying to cope with that horrible feeling that Charlie would not be ringing in the new year with us.

Everyone we had contact with here was exceptionally kind, knowledgeable and patient, and we never felt out-of-the-loop, pressured or overwhelmed.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Malik. He is an amazingly gifted vet and an extraordinarily compassionate man. He kept Charlie overnight and initiated on-going treatment, with her comfort as the main priority. When these attempts failed to yield the desired results by the following evening, we came in prepared to say goodbye to her.

But Dr. Malik wanted to give her one more night to turn things around, and felt confident that her situation just needed a bit more time. I’m one of those animal lovers that feels it’s better to help a beloved pet cross the bridge perhaps one day too soon, than even one minute too late. But when we saw Charlie, we knew she wasn’t quite ready to quit yet, and neither was Dr. Malik.

With his tenacity and skill, he turned Charlie’s medical crisis around. We owe her life to him, and I say that without drama and with absolute conviction. His compassion and utmost concern for her and us is the reason she’s home with us today.

Happy New Year from us all, but especially from Charlie.

We are so great full for all of Dr. Malik help and treatment of our dog Petey.
Petey suddenly went downhill in February. It was a sudden shock to find out he had (IMHA ) Immune Medicate Hemolytic Anemia.

Dr. Malik is extremely knowledgeable with this disease and medication regime. Petey is just flourishing now.

We honestly thought Petey wasn’t going to pull through . Until we came to Dr. Malik who adjusted Peteys medications and brought him back to a much healthier active dog again.

Izzy also thanks you from the bottom of her heart for saving her life. Thank you all again. It was not only a five star but a ten star experience for us. An Angel brought Charlie to us 11 years, 4 months and 14 days ago and our Angel, Son, Lance brought him home. After a brief illness our beautiful, loving Charlie left us on March 25, 2019 to be with our Lance. Thank you Charlie for coming into our lives and choosing us to be your kin. It was on a sunny morning of Nov. 10, 2007 while going for a walk, we came upon a lost dog at our cousins house down the street. They had already phoned animal control to pick you up. Instead Daddy named you Charles after Grandpa Dixon and we brought you home. We decided on Charlie, just until your family could find you. Little did we know at the time that you had already found your forever family with us. As the story goes it was the last day for you to be adopted from a shelter in Michigan and if it wasn't for "Give a Dog a second chance rescue" from Oshawa your young life at just a year and a half would have ended that evening. Your Spirit has truly touched ours in so many beautiful and memorable ways. We will never forget your love and loyalty. An Angel sent you to us and our Angel brought you home.
