Bagel Etc

The best retro dinner/upscale greasy spoon in montreal (and I've been to all of them). This is definitely my go-to brunch spot in the winter, with practically zero wait time and maximum full-factor. The owner is a gem of a human and the wait-staff are always incredibly attentive. They let my boyfriend and I play backgammon while we chowed down on hearty omelettes and fried potatoes.

When going to Montreal, Bagels Etc. was a must on our list since this is where the great Leonard Cohen ate everyday when he lived in Montreal. There is even a plaque with his name at the table and bar stool he sat at! We were lucky enough to sit in his booth and it was very exciting. Luckily the food was very delicious as well and the people were super friendly. One man working there was even kind enough to tell us all about how Leonard was. It’s also a very eclectic looking place with many different pictures and unique objects. It’s 100% worth going to!

Great atmosphere, price, and food. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating to those in our party that did not speak French. We ordered the standard brunch breakfast (2 eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, potatoes and a bagel), as well as a bagel with cream cheese and lox. The bagels we had were fresh from St. Viateur located just a few blocks north and were exactly how I remembered Montreal bagels. Highly recommended visit for anyone in town wanting a fun diner experience.

Good ol'diner with great decor and creative menu. Breakfast was delicious. Beware they don't accept credit cards.
