Bate Island

Nice park in the middle of the Ottawa River Rappids . Lots of aquatic birds and enough room to run around.

One of my favourite places to stop for a photo near the Québec-Ontario border in Ottawa.

Always a wonderful experience - until hordes of squirrels emerge from the shadows and descend upon your vehicle with the force of a thousand waterfalls. Beautiful in fall, too.

Great picnic spot and also a fun place to practice whitewater paddling skills.

This is a little escape that is worth checking out. It's not very popular as most people just drive right on by. But it's a pleasant and serene little island. Google maps doesn't show a parking lot here but there is a small one. It's a cute little date spot. Beautiful views of the Ottawa river. Only down side is with the traffic of road/bridge beside it, can be a little noisy, but honestly not that bad. enjoy
