Park

“This is a beautiful boreal forest with lots of wildlife and birds. It's easy to get to. And recently the Conservation Corps has put in an ADA path for the disabled. You can't find a better place to go birding.”

Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge - Nulhegan Bas

Address: 5396 VT-105, Brunswick, VT 05905, USA

Park

“Do not drive your car into this park. I learned the hard way. The roads are extremely rough with lots of rocks and lots of dips. I have birded in very rough areas and this is by far the worst. My car got stuck on a rock when I was trying to get out. So clearly it's meant for trucks. The scenery is beautiful and lots of interesting spots to see.”

Brighton State Park

Address: 102 State Park Rd, Island Pond, VT 05846, USA

Park

“My daughter and I had such a beautiful time at this campground. Staff and other campers were kind and helpful. The bathrooms were totally clean with hot water immediately available. The sites feel private, very woodsy. Easy access to the quiet, wild Spectacle Pond, as well as to the bigger Island Pond that has more development around it. Both beaches are shallow for a while and super child friendly. Easy to rent kayaks or ride your bike from the campsite to either pond. People at the campgrounds were very respectful of quiet hours in our experience. We would definitely go back with pleasure!”

Bluff mountain hiking trail head

Address: 551 Mountain St, Island Pond, VT 05846, USA

Park

“The trailhead is a beautiful stand of high canopy pines. Relatively easy incline for the first half. If you take the left fork to the basin 'loop' (yellow marked trail) you will have a steep incline That includes an iron rung ladder that was hammered into the rock face. If you take the right fork at the half (blue marked trail) it is less steep but longer to the summit. View at the summit is limited by trees. There is a good but narrow view of island pond.”
