Loved this place! Decor and view, so peaceful and beautiful! Loved that it had laundry area especially when traveling with children.
Cozy, roomy, well apportioned. Close to the action in Eastsound. We really enjoyed our stay.
I stayed here with some friends for a wedding. The house is very nice with plenty of beds and two bathrooms. It has a patio with a great view.
There are things in life that you forget - keys, appointments, and even how to have fun. There are times that life gets so hectic that you freeze, standing there in a whirlwind not knowing what to do. You get stressed, you frown, your life's a little off kilter. How do you find the balance? How do you know when to say enough is enough - it's **my** turn? Well I know exactly where to start! Time for you to take a break, grab some positive people, and come visit The Orcas Ohana - a beautiful, comfortable hidden gem on Orcas Island. You'll see the house's fantastic charm, lots of light, stunning view, nice deck, inviting campfire, lovely rooms. It will become your reverent refuge, your seaside sanctuary, your peaceful place to ease your mind, body, and soul. My husband and I thoroughly love staying there. You will too. So go! Put your feet up. Smile. Laugh. Enjoy. You won't regret it. And have fun! You've been forgetting to do that.
I'm the owner of The Orcas Ohana vacation rental near Eastsound on Orcas Island, so I'm sorry but I'm going to be severely biased here!
My family and I go visit the Ohana at least twice a year and the love affair with this place just deepens every time. As soon as you walk in the front door and look out across the tree tops to that peaceful water you'll just feel stress melt to the floor.
The air up there in the San Juans is crisp and clean, the speed limit is 40 no matter where you go; Orcas Island has no traffic lights, not one. Instead of bus stops they have designated hitchhiking stops (with official signs and everything!), kayak launches everywhere you look, gorgeous art and photography, and AMAZING cuisine. We love Inn at Ship Bay, just about a mile from the Ohana vacation home. They pick, pluck or harvest pretty much everything on your plate same day. You must ask for Olsa to be your server and you must listen to every recommendation she makes because we've never ever ever gone wrong that way.
I didn't purchase the home thinking it would be a full-time vacation home, but it is in the perfect location for people who want privacy, views AND proximity to the action of Eastsound. I use the term "action" lightly because you certainly aren't going to visit Orcas for any night clubs or whathaveyou... but they do have a mean karaoke machine down at the Lower Tavern that we've crushed in the past. No, the action in Eastsound consists of Theater, restaurants, outdoor music festivals, farmers' markets, community parades, churches, grocery, coffee shops, and some of the best healing therapists I've ever experienced. Do your body and soul a BIG favor and call down to the Orcas Healing Arts Center there in Eastsound and ask for a 90 minute massage with Chris. You can thank me later. ;)
Have fun and don't forget to climb to the top of Mt. Constitution -- I proposed to my wife at the top of the tower. She said "yes". :)
