This is what a B&B is supposed to be. Comfortable lodging, thoughtful and helpful hosts with creative and delicious food. The setting is truly beautiful and remote enough for bright starry nights with the Milky Way (no Snickers).
When my wife and I travel we often opt to stay at B&Bs. On our second visit to Lopez Island, we spent just under a week at the MacKaye Harbor Inn. It really is in a league of its own. Robin and Mike couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Robin is an amazing cook/baker and the breakfasts were something special. The Inn is located at the Island's south end, a 20 minute picturesque drive from the Village. A number of hiking trails are a short drive away as is a small supermarket and restaurant.
Beautiful location, great people, and an absolute wonderful time it's well worth the money.
Extremely beautiful place. The owners are very nice, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. We will be back on our next visit to the island.
This is a delightful B & B. The rooms we stayed in (Captain's Room and Flower Room) were comfortable and the location is quiet and very relaxing. We took bicycles to Lopez Island and the ride from the ferry to the Inn was a safe ride on country roads. Rolling hills and "friendly" local car traffic. The South End Market is less than a mile from the Inn with a good selection of food and wine. Great hiking areas are close to the Inn. We also enjoyed riding to Lopez Village (less than 10 miles) for great lunches. At the Inn, the restful view of sunsets from the front porch are spectacular. A special place where we intend to return.
