The hike itself was pretty nice. A few small streams and a well maintained trail. However, the outlook at the end of the trail was a bit lackluster. In addition, parking is a nightmare and the road getting there was pot holed and very difficult to navigate.
Beautiful hike but crowded. Still worth it. I was there with the WTA doing trail maintenance. Great hike, challenging but not too challenging. Entering from the Salish overlook was fun.
Beautiful day. We headed out fairly early as it was a sunny Sunday. Got to the parking area about 8:15am. Took about an hour from the Samish overlook to reach the dome. Not crowded on the trail on our ascent, but we passed many people on the way back. The trail is in good shape, but I would probably classify this a little above moderate. Will definitely be back.
Beautiful view of the Salish sea. The hike up can be intense. It's windy and chilly up top, so bring something warm.
The hike is pretty hard but not impossible with lots of beautiful trees, creeks, etc. The view is nice too but you can get the same view from the Samish Overlook that's a parking lot with no hike involved. If you're doing it for the view don't waste your time but if you're trying to do a good hike it's worth the effort.
