Royal Tyrrell Museum

Amazing museum on the area, finds from there and general timeline of earth. It was awesome to see the dinosaurs and learn about earth's evolution. They have some unique and well presented specimens that are worth seeing. It also has a window into the fossil workshop so you can see actual specimens being worked on and how much care is taken and the details they go into to set up an exhibit for viewing. That part was really neat as most museums don't have the ability to see that.

This was one if the best museums I have been to! It provides a good understanding of evolution by using videos and infographics.

I would recommend coming here if you are interested in learning. I would say age 13+ would be best (to maximize the learning experience/ to develop an interest in paleontology). Seeing the dinosaurs are cool of course... Though in my time here it seemed that young kids did not hold interest and rather just climbed on the benches...

They did also provide basic information on excavation which would be beneficial to see if you have an early interest in archeology.

What a great exhibit! This really should be considered on of Canada's jewels (and Alberta's of course). So many dinosaur artifacts that have been found in Alberta - it is really incredible. Fantastic for any age. It is possible to get through all the exhibits in 1-2hrs but if you want to get a better understanding and really appreciate the museum you could easily spend a day. Book your very reasonable ickets in advance. Really enjoyed!!

Great place to spend the afternoon. Signage for directions and instructions were really good. Lots of bathrooms int eh right spots. Loved that they had places inside the museum where you could take a break and eat the lunch you packed in. They also had a learning center about half way through so kids and adults can try putting together bones to make a dinosaur like the archeologist do or make a new breed of dinosaur by putting different legs, body or heads. There is a dinosaur head you can look in and see other dinosaurs walking by. Loads more too. The museum is well laid out and the map was easy to follow. Definitely thinking about bringing the grandkids here again.

The gold standard for museums in Alberta. This dinosaur focused museum does not disappoint. Fantastic museum!

Unfortunately guest letting their children climbing into the exhibits and ignoring the do not touch signs caused noticeable frustration to clients. Staff did their absolute best to quell these unruly customers.
