“It was a splendid little tour. It is all by donation, and our tour guide was very insightful. We walked in and were immediately greeted and taken on a tour, no waiting necessary. If you are interested in a little bit of Drayton Valley history and have about 45 min of free time, it's worth a visit !”

“A jewel of a museum, privately owned so you have to call and make arrangements to view, no charge but a small donation probably appreciated. Everything, and I mean everything pharmacy related is in this wonderful display. A must see if you’ve ever worked in a pharmacy or drugstore in the past, or if you are feeling nostalgic for the way things were.”

“I arrived at 3:56pm and they closed at 4.00pm. I was in town for work and thought I’d check out the museum to learn about the history of Taber. I was also hoping to grab a little gift for my SO while there too. The lady at the front greeted me and introduced me to the place. I noted that I realized they were only open for 4 more minutes, and she replied that it was perfectly fine for me to stay as long as I like, and she truly meant it, she wanted me to learn and was more than happy to show me around and teach me the basics of how Taber came to be. It was a super cool experience, and I’m glad I stopped in before heading back home!”

“I had the pleasure of experiencing a guided tour led by the wonderful Jen. From the moment one of my friends inquired about a tour, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and Jen proved to be an exceptional guide. Her knowledge and eagerness to share her findings and insights added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. The museum's collection is simply astounding. With over 270 carriages on display, it offers a comprehensive exploration of the history of transportation. From the humble carriages of farmers to the luxury carriages, each exhibit provides a captivating glimpse into the past. The collection not only highlights the diversity of carriage designs but also educates visitors about the historical context behind them. One particular highlight of the museum is its restoration workshop. Witnessing the meticulous process of repairing and restoring these magnificent carriages was truly fascinating. The dedication and expertise of the craftsmen involved are evident in the impeccable results they achieve. It was a pleasure to learn about the time and care it takes to preserve these historical treasures for future generations. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Remington Carriage Museum!”

“I recently had the opportunity to visit Dave at The Zoo. Even though he was preparing for an Art Show, he made time for me and showed me around, answered my questions and was very humble when I was in awe of his creativity. I hope to come back for another visit soon. Thank you Dave. You are a wonderful human and your work is incredible. “Darling Nicke””

“We were told that this is the only museum that allows the visitor to touch real dinosaur bones and eggshells. This alone makes the museum a MUST SEE when you’re in southern Alberta. We had a guided tour in the museum and then we drove out about a half hour away to the place where dinosaurs used to lay their eggs, their nest. There were many pieces of fossilized bones and eggshells which were pretty exciting to find. I can’t imagine a more exciting experience walking where the dinosaurs used to walk, millions of years ago.”

“E Eleanor G. Luxton, the daughter of Banff and Bow Valley pioneers, Norman K. Luxton and Georgina McDougall Luxton, established the Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation in May 1995 with a mandate to preserve the rich history of Banff and the Bow Valley. The foundation fosters public awareness of the history of Canada’s first National Park and the Luxton and McDougall families’ influence and integral part in the development of the vibrant community, culture and built history that exists within Banff to this day. The Luxton Foundation continues to actively support Banff’s community and conservation efforts, proudly supporting the return of bison to the park through Bison Belong. The Luxton family home and garden located at 206 Beaver Street in Banff has been preserved, restored and is open to the public. The Luxton home is an accredited Alberta museum operated by the Luxton Foundation. The interior of the home has been upheld as Ms. Luxton left it, presenting the lives of the three family members and the evolution of a Banff lifestyle over nine decades. In addition, the Foundation supports scholarships in Western Canadian history at the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. It provides grants to non-profit conservation and environmental organizations like Bison Belong, and carries out other initiatives that contribute to maintaining Eleanor’s wish to keep the rich history of Banff and the Luxton legacy alive. about1.jpg Our Mission The Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation is focused on the preservation and promotion of the history, culture and ecology of the Banff area, the Bow Valley and Western Canada. Our Mandate To preserve and commemorate the Luxton Legacy; the built heritage on Beaver Street in Banff, AB including the historic Luxton home, its contents and grounds.
