“Awesome Motel! The service is excellent, friendly, and accommodating. I showed up at 5:25 a.m., after a terrible 21 hours of riding with some hiccups on the way. I was a dripping exhausted motorcyclist looking for somewhere warm and dry. Checkout is 10 am, but I was allowed to sleep till 10:30. I can't say enough about how great the host was even at that hour. Superb.”

“Rooms are clean & basic - but the breakfast is to die for on the mornings (2-3x/wk) that the omelet station is open. Your choice of cheese, ham, shallots, peppers, etc. mixed in a fluffy melange toasted in a waffle-style pan by an expert chef. Spectacular. Truly first rate. (Note that the restaurant in the parking lot closed over Covid)”

“While this isn't like a destination campground (mostly used for stops along the way or people staying the summer to work) this little campground offers a lot! First of all the manager is so lovely, and helpful. She pulled out a bag of newly thrifted toys for my sons to use at the playground, a really nice extra touch. The sites are decent size, the showers are super clean, there are multiple playgrounds (the main ones in the middle of the big loop so your kids can play) and the property is clean and well maintained, and its very quiet. Also, the $/stick firewood price is better here then in the provincial parks. The view of the lake is great too. If you're looking for a short stop travelling through Hanna this is definitely the best choice.”

“One of the most relaxing vacations I had in a long while. Fox Lake Retreat is quite remote, the nearest town, Hanna, is about a 10 min drive away. As a result the cabin we stayed in was so peaceful! The second cabin of the two was rented at the same time but that family went away on day trips so we had the whole place to ourselves. Our dogs had plenty of space to run around and we were even able to take the body board onto the lake a couple of times. The variety of birds and their songs made sitting on the balcony with a book and a beer the most tranquil experience. The owners house is a short walk away and she made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely stay again some day. Maybe bring some friends and rent both cabins.”
