Great beach! Be prepared for a short 15 minute hike from the parking lot. The walk is not difficult and the forest is beautiful. Arrive early to ensure you get parking. The beach itself it huge and not crowded. There was minimal seaweed and kelp but the water was cold! There are a few rocky areas where marine life can be found. Overall a great experience and an awesome place to take kids.
Amazing place to visit. The drive was pretty long but it's definitely worth it. It's a very short walk from the last parkade and the reward is amazing, see pics. The sand is quite fine so it feels amazing between your toes. There's not a lot of places with shade so be forewarned. It is going to be one of my favorite beaches. I'll definitely be hitting this beach up whenever I'm on the island.
Easy access from the highway, 10-15 minute hike with a spot to rest about halfway and outhouses if needed. Beautiful soft sand beach.
Great little hike to the beach. Giant trees! Beach is beautiful with sand, rocks and some small tide pools.
I prefer China beach than the French beach. You have to walk for about 1km to reach the beach. There might not be as many services at the beach level, like potable water, but there is less crowded, and there is far more sand. From my view point, it is more beautiful. Also, if you walk near the right rock wall, you will find a waterfall.
