“Great location for exploring the Port Renfrew area. Sites were nicely landscaped, a good size and very quiet while we were there. Short walk to the pier for sunsets! A table would have been nice but with Covid its understandable why it wasn't there. Would definitely come again.”

China Beach

Address: China Beach Day Use Trail, Port Renfrew, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“Great beach! Be prepared for a short 15 minute hike from the parking lot. The walk is not difficult and the forest is beautiful. Arrive early to ensure you get parking. The beach itself it huge and not crowded. There was minimal seaweed and kelp but the water was cold! There are a few rocky areas where marine life can be found. Overall a great experience and an awesome place to take kids.”

Juan de Fuca Trail Trailhead (Southeast / China Beach Terminus)

Address: BC-14, Juan de Fuca, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“Beautiful trail along the pacific coast. I've done only the eastern 5km because of planning issues, but they were amazing. Sometimes not easy to find your way, path is not paved and lots of branches and narrow areas - follow other campers! Scenic views on Mystic Beach, I recommend to walk off the trail on the beach heading west for a few minutes”

China Beach Trailhead

Address: 47 Juan De Fuca Hwy, Port Renfrew, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“This is the trailhead that takes you down to Mystic Beach. The trail itself is gorgeous, and the beach is pretty although also fairly standard Pacific Northwest. The famous mystic beach waterfall is just a creek by mid-summer - you could walk under it and still be mostly-dry. Couple this with the nearby Sheringham Lighthouse (via the city of Shirley) for a relaxed day of activities.”

Second Beach

Address: Juan de Fuca, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“Beautiful spot. Rocky and Sandy spots to relax at. A few small creeks to cross if you want to wander further. A couple outhouses to use. Love seeing the Olympic range to the south. Can start (or finish) the Jaun de Fuca trail from the parking lot!”

Juan de Fuca - China Beach Campground

Address: 12287 HWY 14, Capital H (Part 2), BC V0S, Canada

Campground Lodging Park

“This was our first camping experience in Victoria! Stunning place with China beach just 1.5km away. We took a nice and easy hike there with our parents as well as our children, the youngest who was just 2. The camp itself is very clean with cold water taps, and basic ‘gravity assisted’ toilet facilities. The camp manager Peter, was an absolute star! Very helpful when we needed some tools to fix some loose ends on our RV. Some of the sites are booked online but if you are dropping in cold, there are some ‘first come first serve’ sites available as well. Come in around 10:30am as that’s when people who are done with their camping start checking out. Lovely tall cedar trees, and reasonably quiet campers mostly.”

Jordan River Regional Park Campground

Address: BC-14, Juan de Fuca, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“Great spot just off the side of the road - but far enough. The only campground we have found on the ocean from Victoria. We prefer this style to the Provincial campgrounds nearby in the woods.”

Sandcut Beach

Address: 11033 W Coast Rd, Shirley, BC V9Z 1G9, Canada

Park

“Gorgeous beach and a nice easy walk. The walk down to the beach is a bit steep, and some of the stairs are fairly tall, but my 3 year old has made the walk unassisted 12+ times. Takes about 10 minutes to get to the beach from the parking lot. Keep your eye out for the "Spooky Tree" on the right of the path on your way down. Waterfall is to the left when you get to the beach about 5 minutes from the trail head. The rope swing is fairly treacherous but tonnes of fun if you have the cohones.”

Fishboat Bay Park

Address: 1405-1407 Fishboat Bay Rd, Port Renfrew, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“One of the best kept secrets in the region. Just a short jaunt from Sooke. Plenty of parking at the end of the road and a short trail through the woods and down some stairs to a very sheltered and sandy beach. The beach is situated such that it is sheltered from the windy and cool conditions that often prevail in our area during the summer. It's really quite something: you'll be wondering if you should bring a sweater when you step out of the car, only to be baking in the heat on the beach. Lots of rocks and tide pools to explore. Be sure to check the tide because on high tides you may not have much beach to work with.”

Priest Cabin Park

Address: Juan De Fuca Dr, Shirley, BC V9Z 1G8, Canada

Park

“Amazing view and easy trail up.”

French Beach Provincial Park

Address: Juan de Fuca, BC V0S, Canada

Park

“Campground was beautiful and well taken care of! The lady who checked us in gave us ideas on what to check out in the surrounding area, which turned out to be pretty neat. Most People where quiet too, no big partying. I wish the campsites had a bit more privacy and a bit more sun, but the easy walk to the pebble beach made up for it! Also the tide pools where pretty neat to explore and climbing the rocks on the other side of the beach was also cool! It was a great place to stay for 4 days. Would totally recommend, and we can’t wait to go back.”

Sheringham Lighthouse View Trail

Address: Sheringham Point Rd, Port Renfrew, BC V0S 1K0, Canada

Park

“Beautiful spot to visit. Unfortunately the lighthouse is under restoration at the moment so the top is a bit of an eye sore but still worth a visit. People near us had mentioned the sight of whales in the area previously. Short walk from one of the small parking lots near the trail. Fresh bear poop was on the way to the lighthouse :) We enjoyed lunch here and basked in the beautiful weather coast scenery ????”

Seagirt Ponds Nature Park

Sooke Potholes Campground

Address: Sooke River Road, Sooke, BC V9A 3N6, Canada

Campground Lodging Park

“We loved the campground. We slept great because people go to bed on time at the park. The gate is shut at 9 pm so visitors have to leave by then which also helps the noise. Great views right on the river.”

Copper Mine Park

Address: Copper Mine Rd, Sooke, BC V9Z 1B2, Canada

Park

“Good park that is well maintained but definitely needs a trash can and some dog poop bags as it is full of dog excrement on the field! Also some garbage but noticed there is no garbage can!”

Kapoor Regional Park

Address: Leechtown, BC V9C 4C1, Canada

Park

“Kapoor Regional Park is all lands lying between the Galloping Goose Trail at Kapoor Station up to the Watershed gate. It is only accessible by foot or bicycle but well worth the effort. The KRP is located eight kilometres beyond the Parking Lot 2 at Sooke Potholes Park.”
