“Tucked into a courtyard off the road a bit, if you are driving, be careful because blink and you'll miss it! Look for the Kahuna burger and you'll be good. The poke bowl is fresh and delicious! The green papaya slaw was yummy! The staff was super friendly. The location was clean and well lit. Wish we had had time to checkout the rest of the area. This part of Duncan has a neat old town feel, and seems like it would be fun to walk around for a bit :) Will definitely be back.”

“Got the Kahuna Burger, bacon, cheese and all the fixin's. Best burger I've had in a long while. The patty had a wonderful flavour, not sure what I was tasting but it was good. Bun was large and in charge but not overpowering, enough to keep a juicy burger under control until it was gone. My friend had the Portobello vegetarian option and polished it off with gusto. Got a kick out of the Eating Instructions" we were given before our burgers were served. Need to follow the protocols to avoid wearing some of it home, where you will fast become your dog's favourite human. The green mango slaw was a bit disappointing, I found it a little dry and lacking in flavour. Next time I will try the regular slaw. I did appreciate the use of wooden (bamboo?) cutlery that can be recycled. My only "beef" is the price. At around $20 this was by far the most expensive burger I have ever ordered. Because of that, Kahuna Burger will not become my regular lunch destination in Duncan, I will maybe keep this place in my back pocket for special occasions.”

“This is another one of those reastutaunts I've always come to as a child but stopped as I got older. I went back to see if anything changed and it hadn't. I ordered the Vicky burger and orange pop. The food came pretty dang fast which is great. The fries seemed frozen and a little bit overdone, but the burger makes up for any issue I had with the fries. The bun was soft and a bit chewy just like how I like my buns and the sauce used was delicious My order was about 20 dollars in total and that's a pretty good price if you ask me. This is another resturaunt you should definitely try if you're visiting Duncan”

“Not sure how to rate it. I did email With no reply. I’ve been a many times. When driving through and have stopped in to eat as well. We visit the area often. Always order dinner for two or family dinners. Most of the time it had been great with good sizes. Last time servings seemed a bit less. Such as less fried and less coleslaw. The last time we went in august though was disappointing. We ordered a halibut meal when in town or driving through as that’s what my spouse likes and a cod meal. The halibut was supposed to be two pieces and came with 3 nugget sized pieces of mostly batter. Not even the size of one halibut. They didn’t even say they were running out of halibut to offer maybe half halibut half cod to actually equal enough fish for two pieces. Halibut costs a fair amount more so this was not ok. The coleslaw serving was also two spoonfuls each. Where it used to be a good amount. So my husband was left hungry. Also the last time we ordered a family size pack and we didn’t even get enough fries for 4 people. The serving was half the time before. I’m not sure if they have different cooks or forget what orders they are doing but it’s been inconsistent. It’s unfortunate because the food is good when done right. Taste would get a 4-5 starts But inconsistency gets 2 so I’ll average a 3. Unsure if we will be back because it’s not cheap to eat out these days and we don’t want to be hungry after. Wish servings were consistent. Fish is one of our fav and it’s the best place for taste in town”

“Yes, this is the only place that standing in line is the only option...and you are always willing to do so once you have...you will stand in line again for the pleasure of this excellent board of delicacies; pizzas, salads, desserts, coffees, teas, and other bakery delights! I forgot to say...organic, locally sourced, and inventive food products; ready to serve or take out to eat.”

“Great little restaurant to grab a bite from. We get tacos or enchiladas most weeks plus whatever drink is on special. They sometimes have a hibiscus drink that is tasty and not what you'd be able to find elsewhere.”

“Good food, reasonable prices, and fast friendly service. I was a little thrown off by the rolled bologne (?!) in the green papaya salad. Other than that, great meal.”

“A small family-run restaurant, quaint and adorable setting and environment in Duncan downtown which provides small town atmosphere. This restaurant serves a Reuben sandwich that is absolutely the best in the world. There is not another restaurant in this city which produces a reuben sandwich as good as the one made here at this restaurant. My wife enjoys coming here for the Chinese special meal.”

“Best Thai Food in town!!! Family owned and operated with authentic recipes and traditional cuisine. Many delicious homemade menu items to choose from; decadent Red Curry is my favorite, the delicious spring rolls are made by the owner and they’re huge. Highly recommend and it’s also nice to support local businesses”

“A beautiful and quaint visitor center and rest area set into a wooded backdrop. The bathrooms are always clean (for a rest stop), the employees in the center are knowledgeable and friendly, there is ample parking, and is just footsteps from a great little surf shop, food, and a few minutes drive into Ukee south or Pacific Rim National Park to the north. I love this little place, and don't forget to buy your parking passes for the beach here, as the ones you buy here are good for ALL beaches in the national park.”

“Bought a package of Ed's Kuku Paka African coconut curry dinner at the "Art in the Garden' show in Nanoose this past weekend and prepared it tonight. It was great. I used chicken thighs instead of breasts and only used 1/2 a can of diced tomatoes and stirred the rice into the mixture. Very flavourful. Will look for it in grocery stores that Ed mentioned: Country Grocer and Quality Foods. Will definitely make it again. Lary in Nanaimo”

“Good egg salad sandwich! Nice selection of teas. Bathrooms are a bit dirty and decor is dated and cluttered. Overall experience was good/ what I would expect for a coffee shop in this location.”
