“I just happened to come across this place. Located in a non descript block of Kingsway that is likely waiting to be redeveloped is this gem. My visit for tea and berry crumble cake was great. The place is small, I found the bench seating comfortable, they also have 4 bar stools. The service was friendly and efficient. They have a liqueur licence and currently offer a couple of lagers and a vodka soda concoction. A wide selection of teas and pour over coffee. The menu had a few choices for lunch but I was interested in there desserts. Everything is presented beautifully, I took a few pics of the touches they use. My food was tasty and my tea was hot with a bouquet of fresh scents. $”

“Came here for coffee one morning but soon realized that they didn't serve coffee. Had to wait for service, but once the server came he took the order and a short wait and food arrived. Decent spring rolls, ordered a coke with it. Was a different experience with my wife first thing in the morning. Good place for seafood if you like that and soups. Fair prices, might come here again, might not, not really close to home.”

“Good quality Cantonese dinners as we have been here 2 times this past month. We have the ten course. A few of the good dishes: crabs, crispy skin chicken, fish stomach soup, shrimp balls, mushroom and Bok coy. Fresh water fish is too grassy/ dirt taste for me in many Chinese restaurant and was also here so this was one of the least I liked. Fried rice has good taste but lacking in the seafood ingredient that I cannot tell what the ingredient was supposed to be. But overall, it is one of the decent Cantonese restaurants in Vancouver.”

“I really love it here. Matchstick has been one of my favourite cafes since moving to Vancouver from Sydney. The Vancouver coffee scene has come a long way in the past 10 years and I'm very pleased to have this gem in the neighbourhood. Friendly service, great coffee and awesome food offerings. Their menu is simple and spot-on. They have many vegan options which are arguably better than everything else. Try the Spelt Scone. Delicious! Insiders tip: If you buy a bag of beans, they will give you a free coffee. Thanks Matchstick!”

“The restaurant is located in Vancouver, and is easily accessible. Parking is not an issue. Inside, the restaurant is dimly lit compared to otherwise. We ordered a 5 course meal, with specific instructions about the food being seafood or vegetarian. The starter had anchovies. We asked the host to replace it as we don't like anchovies. It was replaced by a vegetarian option. The host was able to understand our exact needs and all the meals that followed were according to our taste. A big plus! The main course was the skate wing in teriyaki sauce with pine nuts. The dessert was not so special. Overall a good meal that stuffed us nicely.”

“Best tacos I've ever eaten - even beats out tacos in LA. Put together with great ingredients and obviously a lot of love. Amazing flavours and homemade sauces. Great vegetarian choices too. Even the nachos were amazing. Cocktail menu is to die for, I recommend the sage tea and tequila sour. Service is warm and friendly, this is a fantastic place to spend a happy hour or summers evening meal.”

“Amazing food and super nice staffs! One of the best hotpot place in Vancouver! Also it is Japanese hotpot, so different smell and taste from Chinese hotpot. They have individual hot plate which is super convenient and each person can choose their own broth, and they also can choose the temperature with hotplate controlling. They have no tip policy where in Japan it is not the culture to tip so they follow that.”

“Tonight, We ordered a medium classic veggie for take out. Staff is very nice but to be honest, pizza was just ok. We thought it tasted like Dominos which is far from what we wanted. Also, for $20, it’s quite small. It’s our neighborhood so we thought to try it but really weren’t impressed. Maybe it’s better when you eat in.”

“I live in Ontario and Vij's was recommended to me by one of the chefs I work with. We absolutely loved our meal, the aromas and flavours were all spectacular. Vij himself was also coming around to the tables checking in on how people were enjoying his food. Beautiful patio as well. Would absolutely go here again next time we are in Vancouver!”

“Best bento boxes in the area. Portions are very large so you won't leave feeling hungry. Most places have started to cut down in their portions but not this place. Quality of food is pretty good.”
