White Rock Generations Playground

Address: 14600 North Bluff Rd, White Rock, BC V4B 2V1, Canada

Park

“I have been researching every children’s playground in the Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge etc area and thought this one would stand out. The true test is seeing how my three year old daughter takes to an area and how she interacts with others and the equipment itself. This playground has a lot of options and is spaced out quite nicely. We have only visited one time and I was quite impressed. My daughter enjoyed herself but asked to leave sooner than many other play areas. We will be back again and will see if it grows on her. Other parents were friendly and the kids overall were friendly too which usually seals the deal and my daughter doesn’t want to leave. She especially enjoyed the monkey bars, the spiral slide and the little zip line. Overall a good time and place for kids to utilize their physical prowess.”

East Beach

Address: White Rock Promenade, White Rock, BC V4B 1E2, Canada

Park

“East beach and west beach in tiny White Rock are very nice places to walk. East Beach in particular is our favorite destination when we are off with the kids to have some beach time. There is plenty of parking both in the lots as well as along Marine Drive, but in summer these spots can become prime places what with all of the locals and tourists. There is a fairly wide grass area that folks put their picnic blankets out on and the water is very shallow which the kids and parents alike love strolling along. You can walk great distances and never have water higher than your knees. It even seems like you can walk across the bay to the US side of the ocean, but well, no you can't, as it does get very deep at some point. This is also where the bear statue is located that kids seem to love climbing on and parents are seen there taking pictures of the kids all day long. Between west and east beach is a hill that is called the hump and if you walk up a little way you can view Mt. Baker in the distance. It is very photographic and a few years back you could see steam rising from this very old volcano, but it has been quiet for decades now. All in all east beach has plenty of store fronts with small ice cream shops to the very best fish and chips at the Moby Dick restaurant. It is perhaps the best fish and chips on the west coast. In the summer the line at the take out window gets really long fast, so get there early if you can. East beach is great place to stroll along from the end of the promenade past the hump (without climbing the hill as it is at sea level) all the way to west beach and then return. It makes for a nice walk.”
