This was my first Indian grocery store after reaching Halifax. Initial impression was good but I thought there might be better store around.
But after experiencing with few other shops, I thoroughly understood that this is the best Indian grocery for Halifax downtown. The owner is a kind man and he helped with so much patience. The prices were nominal. And the products were good.
Small private owned store. It doesn't have the organizatios and service as the big stores, so you just go there get what you want and leave. They sell food (hot meals), but they're not cheap as before. I have no idea where or how they prepare the food; we just pick it up in the store after ordering. And whether you order spicy or mild, the food is hot.
Had a good experience. Small store but seems to be in Halifax for a long time.
From North to South, the store covers whole Indian groceries, the staff are very nice and helpful. Very reasonable prices. They also have takeaway snacks and meals which taste just like one you get in India. They accept cash and cards.
Definitely your go to Indian store in Halifax.
What a pleasant discovery! We love cooking Indian Cuisine at home, but often have difficulty finding certain spices and ingredients. My husband was born and raised in the UK, so some of his favourite curries are hard to come by too. We were both so pleased to see many familiar things in one place! I was blown away at some of the low pricing (cardamom pods, some of the branded chutneys and spice mixes) but some items were unmarked with pricing which was a bit tricky. I was also excited to see a fridge full of freshly prepared Indian sweets, but was deterred as it was self-serve. I will look forward to trying them another time. An excellent variety of products in the store, between fresh and frozen produce, non-perishable items, prepared foods (both fresh and frozen) and endless teas, mixes and spices. They also sell some hot and ready samosas at the front counter which is such a sneaky but extremely successful tactic!! We left with a pretty good load of goodies and can't wait to dig into them this week. Also, if you go for nothing else, you need to try their Samosas. We couldn't help but buy one at the counter and it didn't even make it home. Really light and crispy pastry and the most delicious mix of spices inside. We will be back!!
