“Perfect B&B in Port Hood - immaculately clean, very well appointed rooms and common area, comfortable bed (yes, this is worth saying … amazing how some places forget that you’re going there to sleep!!), super friendly and knowledgeable hosts, and superb breakfast. Couldn’t ask for more … and at a reasonable price, The Fiddle and the Sea is a great value.”

“All of the basic necessities were available. The room was good enough to spend the night. AC has some kind of timer set on it. It kept on switching off after every 30 minutes. It was a warm day and one should realise how painful it can be to sleep without a fan or AC even when you pay around 150dollars per night. Neighbours were sitting outside on the bench till late and we heard them till they were outside. Either they should move the benches or improve the noise isolation. The location is no way near the Real park. The receptionist was gone after 6pm.”

“Very nice place. Location and view is excellent. Staff are wonderful. Breakfast is nice with a good mix of items. Rooms were on the whole good. It'd be great to have a small fridge though. A bit more cleanliness around the taps plus a shower curtain pole that stayed up and that wasn't rusty would help. But this doesn't take away anything from the positives. I'd definitely stay here again.”

“Very cute, clean cottage with excellent views. Best time away I have ever had, enjoying the deck, watching the sunset. Loved it”

“Little bit dated but great spot for a family that’s going to spend their days at the beach! Staff are super friendly. They also can provide you with cooking supplies for lobster you want to cook up yourself!”

“My family and I stayed at The Blue Pearl, one of the gorgeous Colindale Beach Villas. I was given very detailed instructions of how to get the keys from the lock box upon arrival and one of the hosts, Michael, gave me a call to ensure that we had everything we needed and to answer any questions we may have had. The Blue Pearl was even lovelier in person than the pictures that were shown on the website. Our Villa had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen was fully equipped with dishware, bakeware and utensils. Making our own dinner instead of eating every meal out was a nice change while being on vacation. We also appreciated that we could do laundry in the middle of our trip to Nova Scotia/The Cabot Trail. My family and I agreed that it would be difficult to surpass our stay at Colindale Beach Villas and we would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat!”

“Kids loved the heated pool! Lots of crabs at the beach but don’t bother catching them as there are signs warning of the legality of it. Bathrooms are ok, shower is ok. Services are good. We’re just in a tent trailer but it’s all good! Not much in the area in terms of restaurants or other services.”

“We had an amazing stay September 2021. The view from our room was spectacular! Catharine and Frances were perfect hosts and we learned so much from them about the history of the area. We happened to be there when a large blue fin tuna was coming in and Frances gave us a special tour of the fish dock which we will never forget. We highly recommend Gillies by the Sea!”

“This little known B&B is one of the hidden gems of Cape Breton. The ocean views from the property are breathtaking. Hosts Sheryl and Clarke were delightful, taking good care of their guests. They were very informed about local businesses and current events that might not come up while researching about the area. Our room was spacious, super clean with a private bathroom, TV, welcoming water bottles and even a kettle to make tea or coffee. The B&B is located about 400m away from the road (which is a "no-exit" road)... so very quiet and peaceful! We felt like we were in a home away from home. Thank you Sheryl and Clarke!”
