“Visited the Bellevue House with the 2 best friends that anyone could ever have... and what an experience it was! The people who are on site are so knowledgeable and entertaining! I learned so much with the short amount of time we were there. The garden is also quite lovely and I absolutely love how they try to give back what they are able to grow utilizing similar techniques as we did in the past. Highly recommend, a must visit while in Kingston!”

“This museum was a decent little museum before. Now, it's even better. For a place that's by donation, it's great. There are some awesome artefacts. If you're a fan of all things military or specifically a signals and engineering nerd (like me), it's a must. Some of the video and interactive displays weren't working during my visit, but they are a newer addition to the place, so I expect they need to work out the kinks.”

Fort Henry National Historic Site

Address: 1 Fort Henry Dr, Kingston, ON K7K 5G8, Canada

Museum

“Incredible light and sound show. Very interesting and innovative idea for what to do on a cold winter evening. There are several interactive stations. You have to jump, or yell, or throw balls, or do some sort of activity to make the sound louder or the lights brighter, or to make it snow! You can participate in the interactive stations as much or as little as you want. However, I found that participating made it really fun. This is a good way to have an interesting time while keeping warm outside in the winter! Make sure you dress warmly. However, they do have several indoor warming stations along with propane and natural fires along the path that you walk for the activities. You can also purchase hot chocolate.”

Lumina Borealis

The visual component is produced by moment Factory which is produced many other spectacular exhibits. Dress warmly there's a lot of wind in some areas. A paragraph there is hot chocolate and other Refreshments when you get to the endpoint of the experience.”

“Truly unique hands on experience. The staff is extremely friendly, and very knowledgeable. Every room is filled with fascinating items along with their story. I highly recommend visiting for all ages, especially if you have any interest in Kingston Pen. One of my favourite things I remember is a crossbow that is made out of everyday prison items. For some reason I will never forget it.”

Kingston Penitentiary

Address: 560 King St W, Kingston, ON K7L 4V7, Canada

Museum

“The tour was quite thorough and very informative. There were parts of the Kingston Penitentiary that were quite old (1800s) as well as more modern facilities that were being used only a few years ago. I took the shorter tour and found it to be a good length. It covered pretty much all parts of the facility with a fair bit of time for history and stories as we went. Even with the shorter tour, be prepared for lots of walking with no real chance to break or sit down for the duration.”

Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston

Address: 53 Yonge St, Kingston, ON K7M 6G4, Canada

Museum

“Great maritime museum, kid friendly. Interesting exhibit about the history and evolution of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Hands on displays of various ship technologies, and spooky collection of artifacts from many of the great lake shipwrecks. Don't miss the chance to walk around the old coast guard ice breaker they have there, the Alexander Henry. We have been to many maritime museums but the freedom to explore the well preserved inner workings of the Alexander Henry is a truly unique experience. We came away with a better understand of how these big ships work and what life aboard would have been like.”
