“This tiny museum is located just outside main Tobermory. It's steeped in history and dates back nearly 200 years. There is no admission fee but they look forward to donations. Basically it is 2 small buildings - one is the old school and the other is the log cabin they stayed in. Note that the log cabin was situated in main Tobermory ( on rent i believe )but was relocated when the landlord wanted his property back. It was brought to the current address and reconstructEd- nearly 50 years back. The main school building is full of relics and stuff you probably have never seen. It was actually a school back in the day - there is a bell outside which was rung to call kids into school. You need to go and see the history in that building as it's hard to explain. Old attendance registers along with cursive hand writing sheets are there for all to see. Not sure if they have heritage status as yet but seriously think that the appropriate authorities need to look into. The 2 ladies there were really knowledgeable and friendly - go see the appliances they have and how Canada managed back then. Parking is available on site and its free. We need to understand and appreciate the resilience of people from that age - how they learnt and adapted to the times. For example back then no corporates made butter - it was made in house using age old appliances and techniques. See the pictures I have posted and you will understand.”

“Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I visited. Bummer, right? But you know what, just being there, right by the old light keeper’s quarters, I could still feel the history. I wandered around outside, imagining what life would've been like for those keeping watch over the waters of Georgian Bay”

“If you love clocks and museums this is a place to see! This is a typical small town museum. An older gentleman runs it, when asked about being open, he went on to describe that if it’s close we should call the number and he will come from home and open it up. He had some much love for the place. As most small town museums, Explained a lot of history of the museum and about the different styles of clocks. How long are you going to spend there? If your the type to read and embrace everything, There is enough items to keep you busy for a couple hours. All in all, I recommend.”

“I enjoyed a self guided tour of this museum with a group of friends. We all live in Pembroke, Ontario, which is approximately 30 mins away. Some exhibits you can step right up to and touch. Others are protected behind glass. There was a very comprehensive timeline of Petawawa's contributions to every major campaign from ww1 to present. When I was there a section of the museum was being updated and therefore was not available for viewing, so I do intend to go back, but I wouldn't have noticed a significant hole in the timeline if I had not seen the signs stating that this section was not open. Not that I'm a history buff, so perhaps someone who's knowledge is more comprehensive in Canada's military history and actions could have seen what was missing.”

“Nice variety museum. Displays are outside and inside. There is the main building, an old school house, church and outdoor display. Do be aware though to call first and make sure they will be open. They close at random times to accommodate parties and their staff.”

“An awesome place for young kids to learn and explore the progression of science and technology over time. The museum is divided in different sections each containing exhibits from a specific sector in technology from locomotives, sound, wearable technology, space, science, minerals, and many others. There’s also a special dedicated section for young kids to explore and experiment their creativity. There’s a climbing wall, gear wall and a vehicle building area where kids can create vehicles of different shape, size and weight and explore how unique design changes impact rolling of vehicle down the test ramp. There are a lot of interactive educational experiences for kids and it's definitely a place worth visiting and highly recommended for families.”

“This place is so huge, with so many things to explore that you can easily spend 4 hours there or more. clean, beautiful, up to date. There are lots of interesting knowledge filled things to view and read about. Terrific place for kids: there are interactive stations everywhere... not just computers, but also a binocular station in the bird area, turtle viewers for jellyfish vs plastic bags, touching water creature station, real ice sculpture to walk through and touch. The staff are so approachable and so helpful. They actually like to help and do so with a smile. To add to its many amazing features, its also free every Thursday after 5. Memberships are available and a good deal if you plan to come at least 3 times in the year but keep in mind that will not include parking fees.also you may receive a discount if you're an ingenium pass holder. I will definitely recommend visiting it.”

“This was one of the places we would always stop at when my family and I would travel to the Niagara Region for our summer vacation when I was a kid. Stopped in to reconnect with my youth as well as with the memory of my dad (he used to work as a fireman on 4-8-4s out of Hornpayne back in the day). It was a bit of an emotional visit. Sadly to to preservation work being done/needed you can't enter the locomotive cab or the caboose at this time.”
