“My parents have a site here so we go and visit them. The staff upon entering is always very friendly and they have lots of family things to do. There is mini golf in the front, heated pool, small store, and bingo every Saturday. They also have a great park for little ones. This is right on the lake and a very quiet relaxing campground. We love our visits at Highland!!”

“This is the first adult only campground we have ever tried. Carol Anne the owner is such a sweet heart. The people in the trailer park are the nicest people. The sites are roomy and well cared for. Walk around and see the little touches that Carol Anne uses in her gardens. Definitely hope we stay there again.”

“Beautiful place. Boat ramp and docks on the Grand River. Good restaurant, serving very good food, (Fish is delicious!). Good spot for famies, good views, and good for fishing. Tennis court up at the top of the street, and there’s a place to play horseshoes. Covered area up closer to the highway (Highway 3) With picnic tables and bathrooms, which are in decent condition. I would not go swimming in the river, I don’t think that’s a very good idea, the water isn’t the best for swimming and can be very dirty. Great place for boating and fishing. Would recommend to most people. Good area, nice neighbourhood. I have never personally been there (in a trailer) but I have been to the area and heard wonderful things about it.”

“We enjoyed our little luxury camping (glamping) spot in the meadow. This is a 5 acre farm (meadow) with 5 camping sites on it. 4 of the sites are around a small pond near the home of the owners. They share an area that includes showers (heated water), kitchen area, and flush toilets. The 5th site (where we were) is separate and has its own kitchen (cold water only) and a composting toilet. There was also a shower under construction (although it is a short walk to the other area to use their heated shower, or you can take a very cold shower via the kitchen water tank hose). The owners left us alone and we enjoyed the privacy. If we needed anything we just had to go to the common area and ring a bell. Our site had a nice big tent with a double bed and comfy sheets and warm duvet, 2 oil lamps for light in the evening, a cupboard (with pots, pans, cutlery, tin foil, saran wrap, mirror, lighter, spatula, etc.). A small wardrobe where we could house our clothes, towels, facecloths, fly swatter, umbrella and some literature from local tourist areas. A very well appointed tent! All we had to bring were our clothes and food. Their website stated that they supplied the eggs in the morning (fresh from under their chickens). But when we asked for eggs they seemed a little confused. They gave us some, but I think that it isn't something they normally do anymore. When I read reviews of the place it seemed like they used to be a lot more hands-on with the guests. People made comments about getting fresh baked cookies on their arrival, etc. But, I think the owners are a little too busy these days with a growing family to keep up all the "little extras". The farm is also for sale, so it may be different with the next owners. You can hear the local traffic from your tent (the highway is not close, but sound travels in the open country). But you can also hear the frogs croaking, the crickets chirping and the birds singing. I enjoyed bird watching from your tent's covered front porch, enjoyed a lovely campfire, relaxed, hiked the old steam rail trail that runs right past the property (but bring bug spray on that hike!) and had a quiet and romantic time overall. So, would I go back? Sure - if I could get the private tent again. But I do think it was overpriced (which is mostly why I gave 4 stars instead of 5).”
