“For some things, the old is better than the new. And this restaurant is one of those things. There’s a reason why this modest place has been in business for so long. At the end of the day, it’s about the food. No fanciness, no pizzazz, no BS, nothing to distract you from what you go there for in the first place: the food. The ingredients used and the prepared food stay true to the good old days, tried and true. Fries are soft and sweet but not overly starchy. They use Putter’s dill pickles. Enough said. Your order is always well packaged, with everything included without you having to ask. It’s a well-oiled (pardon the pun) operation. The meals I order always taste and smell as I remembered and expected them to — no surprises, which is a good thing. Not a spot you would bring your new date to but a spot you can count on whenever you have a craving for authentic traditional dinner’s food. In the age of fusion-this and deluxe-that, this type of restaurant is a gem for the city.”
