“Just passed through Barton on return to NYC and stopped at this gem. We LOVED it — the pastries, the shop itself, and the lovely owners who offered us options even though we arrived past close. We’ll be back!”

“These guys make an awesome buffalo chicken nacho dish. I am adhering to a keto w.o.e. So I asked instead of the nachos, could I please have the buffalo chicken on some veggies or a salad and they were very gracious and accommodating! The buffalo chicken (dip) was placed on a bed of local greens ( yummy!!!) It turned out amazing! They have a variety of beer on tap and in bottles. The service is friendly and very helpful. It might be a little off the beaten path, but it is so worth it. Great food and great people. The vibe is very inviting.”

“This place is AWESOME. Opened in honor of an fallen hero Nick. The car theme is carried out to a tee. The food is spot on. SO good. The owner is lovely. We went 3 times in a matter of a 4 day trip to Barton. This place is worth going out if your way for.”

“The staff goes put of their way to help in all situations. This convenient store is just off I91 in Barton Vermont just miles from the Canadian boarder. I have personally witnessed the staff helping visitors with directions, reviews on lcoal events and just a smile when needed! Definitely stop by if your in the area.”

“The good: Food is great, service was great, The bad: depending on who is there the food consistency is different. I have gone in multiple times when who i thought had owned it was there he is a young man in there every night and the food was great fluffy crust and just the right crunch its like that everytime i have gone in and he made it as well, i have never seen someone with so much energy and go go go, But then i have gone in and then apparently the "actual owner" from what i have been told has in there the last couple days here and there, and my pizza was either not cooked enough or cooked to much , hectic as well, I will be going back soon i have herd that the young man has not actually left but was on a trip of some sort. Other than that issue its a great place, clean and comfy, could use another coat of paint outside but hey what doesn't!”

“Underwhelming flavors and selection. Tried out their Korean BBQ buffet with our out-of-town visitors. Some of the foods seemed dry, and you can tell that they have been prepared hours ago. For a Korean BBQ, there were Thai, Chinese, and non-korean selections (hotdogs, cardboard hamburgers, dessert, western salads). I remember trying a similar offer buffet of theirs in the past, and feeling kinda 'meh'--this was the same. I can't believe their only dessert was a very tarty apple-berry crumb! I kinda liked it, but many in our party wished there was something else to temper the sour-tarty taste (ice cream or whipped cream). Better yet, maybe some traditional Korean cookies or rice cakes? In any case, I assume they cater to a clientele with a lot of disposable income, those who have traveled and try different things, and those who can tell what is good from what is 'meh'. Having tried real authentic Korean food, as well as dozens of different buffets, this was a let-down. The third star is for the friendly and genuine service.”

“In general I love the Waffle Cabin, and I have chosen to ski in Vermont rather than NH or Maine in order to make sure there was a Waffle Cabin at the slopes. This location seemed light on the pearl sugar, though.”

“Real tasty authentic hot ramen right on the ski slopes! You have to be kidding the place is unreal; it's cooked in the old cabins and you can eat it around the fire pit or in the cafeteria. The soupe itself is really tasty the noodle have the right texture and the egg is cooked to perfection. The only thing they could improve is around the ecological bowl, the starts leaking if you eat too slowly.”

“Good quality American pub style restaurant. Not many options at the Jay Hotel for dinner. So on a busy weekend night, plan accordingly to wait for a table. Although for my visit they told me it would be a 20 minute wait; but they were able to seat me much faster (less than 10 minutes). Prices are slightly upscale. So if you are looking for a cheap meal, this isn't it. Between that fact, and the possible wait (they can't control if it gets busy!) I have a feeling are the reasons for the mediocre overall rating. But I was pleasantly surprised at my dinner experience. Nice atmosphere, service was good, and the food was delicious. Had a steak, and it was perfectly cooked. Good menu options for kids, as well. Would recommend.”

“This review is for the Inn as I have never eaten at the restaurant. Clean accommodations reasonable price. The staff went above and beyond to make my families stay enjoyable. In an area of the world prized for its beauty it is like a five mile stretch of river cut short on either end. I recommend WillowVale for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Don't bother bringing your fishing poll though as there's no fish in the lake.”

“Gil’s is always wonderful! We live on the lake, and are thankful it is so close. View is superb. 3 of us dined there again last week. Sarah, our server, was delightful. Fish, pasta special, and salad with salmon were all outstanding. Gil even had Heady Topper!”

“Nice setting. Friendly service. Me and the wife had the Rueban off of the lunch menu with homemade chips. Rueban was delicious, dare say best I ever had. Wife agreed. Someone knows how to make them there. Homemade chips were good as well.”

“The morning buffet that can be included with the lodging was a great way to start the day. We got a seat by the window to watch the first people getting on the lift. Wanting to get out ourselves it was fast and easy to get breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausage quickly go around the corner get our stuff out of the ski locker and walk out the door around the corner to get on the lift. What an easy way to go.”

“This place is excellent. I generally like ribs with a bit more bark but these were moist, tender and flavorful like few others. It was a beautiful day and sitting at the picnic tables was really fun. The folks that run it were really friendly and walked around talking to folks. I tip well when I am in a regular restaurant but I find it odd to tip for counter/window service. A tip jar for change is one thing but completing the Square transaction you feel like you are expected to leave a 10-15-18-20% tip.”

“This place is excellent. It is a completely rebuilt manor house from the 1800's. Good food, cheap, with a great menu. Staff were friendly and courteous. I got the burger and onion rings. They were great! And then I got some fries. They were OMFG wonderful. Hand made. Some sea salt. Perfect! Then I got a peanut butter pie, home made. That was excellent as well. The decor is nice. It is beautiful on the inside and outside. It s a pain to get there, but well worth the effort.”

“Their seafood has always been super good. Yesterday I got the Scallop Roll and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The rest of my family really enjoyed their food too. Keep in mind this is a very popular place and you may have a hard time sitting indoors, though there's a lot of outdoor seating too.”

“This is a low key, very eclectic dining experience. It’s a popular sonowmobile destination and popular for the old folks (I have an uncle that drives an hour with his wife and friends just to eat here!) The menu has a lot of options including a yummy prime rib! You can expect Homestyle cooking along with a salad bar with a good variety of salads and sides. It’s not 5 star dining, but it’s cozy with backwoods charm.”

“Jay Village Restaurant has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and offers excellent service. We stopped in later in the evening for a glass of wine and dessert. Order their excellent Riesling and share a delectable piece of chocolate cheesecake. You won't be disappointed. You can take your time and have a conversation with your sweetheart. Jay Village Restaurant is certainly a place to enjoy yourselves in the summertime. In the winter ski season it might be a bit busier but you can expect the same great service. By the way for all the skiers out there you haven't skied until you've experienced a Jay Peak snowfall.”

“Luan and I had excellent ceasar salads before two superb entrees. She had the cheese ravioli special with a full lobster tail and scallops in a light rosa sauce. My meal was a fabulous veal chop with a marsala reduction, with mushrooms and a bit of cream mixed in. Chef / owner Frank was warm and open discussing what went into our meals and the service from Sarena was very good. If you're in Newport VT be sure to stop.”
