“What a serene place in the woods! A lovely property, including a little lake on which shores you can sit and just enjoy the gorgeous nature view. A super friendly owner who gave us wonderful tips on what to see. The room, more like a small apartment, was very comfortable, clean and everything you need was provided for. Breakfast was always waiting in the fridge and coffee and tea were also provided. I especially enjoying watching the hummingbirds flying in and out to their feeders. Amazing!”

“I was here for a Women’s retreat and this place is nothing short of amazing. I had been told about West Coast River Lodge and how beautiful it was but being here is a whole new appreciation for how accommodating it is for a large group. There was 25 women and we all had our own space to explore on our own as well as common rooms that we’d come together for workshops & team work The “cigar room” was by far my favourite closed in outdoor space with a real wood burning fireplace, accent lights, and cozy couches to relax and enjoy the sound of the river just steps away. (Where there’s salmon jumping often) The attention to detail is what truly makes this space incredibly special. The bedrooms, the bathrooms and each room had a warm feeling that leaves you wanting to return. The ample space on the deck accommodated all of us laying down for a sound bath under a full moon. I will 100% be coming back to West coast lodge for events. Marnie was extremely accommodating and answered all of our questions in prompt timing. Thank you so so much for the amazing time.”

“Such a Lovely person Laury is.i was here working and she gave us an amazing rate. She gave us tones of privacy, and the grounds OMG amazing waking up and seeing deer on the lawn. Go for a 10 min stroll and your at the Sumas River. Where people come from all over to fish the world class fishing River. The water is clear and clean and you can spend the day down there in lawn chairs in the water. With just the right amount of shade. We rented her 45' trailer Brand New it came with wifi, fire TV, A/C a fire place, a 3 PC bathroom with hot water, full size fridge. 1 bdm with King sized Bed and 2 fold out queens in the living room. Plus a lazy boy recliner. And a dining room set for 4 all the bedding towels sheets blankets pots and pans provided, a large awning for shade with a table and lawn chairs outside equipped with outdoor speaker and lED lighting. Lots of storage space and pantry for your food. Full size fridge with freezer . Everything one could need for there stay.Laury rents this out on a weekly basis prefers cpls or small out of town crews short term only. “It's been a while since I've had such a good experience at a hotel or a B&B. I was so impressed with this place. It was clean it was quiet. They gave us so much food for breakfast. And because we were going fishing it was a packed breakfast. And we also ordered lunch for the boat as well and again so much food. The service was amazing. My dad had forgotten our fishing licenses and the owners tried so hard to help us get them so we didn't have to drive back. I know they're trying to sell but if you get a chance to stay here before they do I highly recommend it.”

“I stayed here for a week by myself in the main floor suite. It was very clean and well-maintained. The property is gorgeous. The guesthouse is very cozy and felt like a home away from home for me. It was really nice to have a safe and relaxing space to have family visit with me during the day while getting away from the hustle and bustle to get some work done in my down time. Cheryl was very kind and accommodating; I really enjoyed chatting with her and getting to know about her and the property and the city itself. If I had to list one downside it would be the noise levels from other guests upstairs who probably just didn't realize how heavy-footed they were being (in addition to generally dropping things and slamming doors, etc). Overall, a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones went a long way to deal with that! I would absolutely stay here again and hope that I get the opportunity to do so.”

“The location of the hotel was easy to find, just along the road to Tofino. The hotel was very nice and the front desk manager was very nice and gave us a lot of travel advice to Tofino. Thank you very much. The staff were all very kind. The room amenities were also nice and it was quiet to sleep at night. We were tired from driving all day but had a good night's sleep. Highly recommended. A great place to stop and rest for a trip to Tofino!”

“If you are a working person just passing through, it does the job. But vacationing or looking for a nice clean room… pass. The lady at the desk greeted us by complaining about other patrons, and the rooms are very musty and outdated. Lamps were dusty, old paper computer signs everywhere, outdated scratchy linens and …. Just really stale and old. Clean enough if just looking to lay your head and pass through. They charge extra to use the in suite kitchens”

“We had dinner on the boat and it was a wonderful experience. You sit at a large communal table and get to meet and chat with people from all over the world. that is what made it so fun. the dinner on this night was a paella and it was delicious! My only advice would be to confirm the cost of the meal and drinks before you make the booking. We were surprised at how expensive the meal turned out to be. Also the owner did not give us an itemized bill, instead just the grand total. I would ask for the detailed bill to make sure there are no errors and that the price agrees with what you were quoted before you booked. Also call the day before to confirm your reservation. but overall it is a great experience.”

They have a quaint covered outdoor dining area that includes a BBQ and seating area for our whole family. Two minute walking distance from the water where we saw a black bear right across river. “Margaret and Joop are amazing hosts. We had to stay the night at their bed and breakfast after the highway to Nanaimo got closed. We called them a few minutes in advance to make sure they had rooms. Once we arrived, they welcomed us and showed us the rooms. The house and the rooms were very clean, and we had a nice view from our bedroom. There were clean towels for each person, cold water bottles in every room, and the bathroom was very clean and well stocked. The breakfast was amazing, almost everything was homemade and delicious! They also updated us about the road conditions and gave us advice on when would be the best time to leave so we can avoid the huge line up at highway 4. It was a lot like staying at a very cozy country house and I would definitely go back here next time we are passing through Port Alberni.”

“Unfortunately, we could only spend one night there because we travelled on. The room was very clean and homely. The beds were very comfortable and we both slept wonderfully. Breakfast the next day was perfect! The two hosts are very accommodating and friendly, you immediately feel welcome and at ease. Bill provided us with tips on where we might still have a chance to watch the salmon migration. And the two dogs are unbelievably cute! Thank you very much for letting us stay with you, it is an absolute recommendation!”

“Bob and Yvonne welcomed us into their home for a weekend. They gave us the locals info on the sights in town and things to do. The two of them were friendly and very helpful. “Surprised how clean and quiet the hotel was. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when I wanted extra blankets. The bed was very comfy. Lots of pillows. Very clean inside the room and carpets seem brand new. There is an ice machine. The hot tub and pool were great. There are pool towels. There is a small but new gym. The lobbyist is decorated for the season. They are really trying to put on a good product. Lost one star because the EV charger outside didn't charge the car properly. But that was not the fault of the hotel. The staff came out and tried their best to figure out what was wrong. We will definitely stay there again. We would have tried the breakfast but we had to get out of the hotel by 7:00 and that is when breakfast starts. Looks like a really good deal of a breakfast buffet for $10”
