We love this campsite. I used to camp there many years ago until the host at that time decided that tenters weren't worthy campers and she had to save all the best sites "in case a trailer in need showed up"
Anyways - SO glad we chanced going back again, the camp host now (Santa Wayne) is amazing. He looks like Santa, has all kinds of cool stuff to keep up the image, my son was dazzled (and frankly, I felt like there was something magical about him too...) - it was really neat.
The place itself is stunning, the view is unbeatable. And honestly, the cleanest outhouse I have ever used! My son asked if we can always go there to camp from now on. I like to travel around and see different places, but we will definitely be back at some point.
Also, I cannot thank Santa Wayne enough for saving us! The night we left it was quite late, it had been raining, the road was slippery, and I was tired, and I got myself botched up with my cargo trailer at the top of the hill out, started slipping and spinning my wheels, which resulted in a bit of a jackknife. I did all I could, but was afraid I was just making it worse. I had to go down and ask him for help. Poor guy was just getting out of a shower, but he got dressed and came out and saved our butts - talk about ABOVE AND BEYOND! My eternal gratitude to this man for not only providing us with the amazing trip we'd already had - but for keeping our trip from ending in a nightmare. Thank you Santa Wayne!
Just wow. This place is absolutely incredible. The host is extremely friendly and went completely out of his way to accommodate us. We will almost certainly be returning.
We stumbled across Bear Creek Campground by accident when looking for somewhere to gold pan. Santa and Bandit the dog were so welcoming, even though we had no reservations and weren't intending on staying. He gave us plenty of information and tips on panning and even told us where to get the best picture from in the campground. He was happy with us just hanging around the campsite for a few hours without anything in the return. Even giving us a cold beer and a warm next to his fire.
The campsite is amazing and we would highly recommend it to anyone. We were disappointed we couldn't stay there due to alternative plans however if we ever return to BC we will definitely be returning here. So far this has been our favourite spot of our trip.
Pulled in by accident, actually had reservations on the other side of the Rockies (unbeknownst to us) but Santa (Wayne)BC and his rain dog Bandit met us with a smile and warm greeting and hooked us up with a beautiful camp site. We stayed for three nights and wished we would have had a month to stay. We were there while the area was covered in smoke from the fires and couldn’t see the majestic scenery but knew it was there. Already looking forward to our next visit!!!
Great spot but unfortunately the camp host had a God complex. He makes up whatever rules he wants and then if you dont abide by them he kicks you out. Had him literally remove my tent from a spot I payed for when I was out for the day, he then gave the spot to someone else, and wouldn't give me a refund on the grounds of one of these made up rules.
