“Brewers is a diverse park terraced into three areas. A playing field, tennis and basketball courts, and a grassy area with playground and wading pool are separated by tree-lined walkways and stepped plantings. This is a good place to visit if you want to relax in the shade, play a game of tennis, or push your kids on the swings. This park was one of the first areas set aside for parkland in the former municipality of South Vancouver (several different municipalities were amalgamated into the City of Vancouver in 1929). The park was named for William John Brewer, the first reeve of South Vancouver at the time of its incorporation in 1892.”

“Pretty decent local park utilized by both elders and kids/parents. The playground isn't too big but it doesn't get too busy either. A "renewal" is coming up though.”

“Located inside John Hendry Park in the east side of Vancouver. A really wonderful park run by the Vancouver Parks Board. The Trout Lake Community Centre is also located within the park. There are several parking areas and access points to enter into this park. And parking is FREE. Trout lake beach main entry point is off of 18th Avenue between Victoria Drive and Garden Avenue. Very popular with local residents during the summer months. NOTE: swimming is permitted at the south end if the lake. NOTE: there is a leash free area on the west side of the lake. NOTE: the west side parking lot is also the main entry point for the community Centre.”

“A great place to garden! The society only requires 12 hours of volunteer service (and a 30$/year registration fee) to have a plot.”

“Filipino Plaza is a landscaped park located in Vanness Avenue, west of SkyTrain's Nanaimo Station in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The open park, sometimes referred to as a linear park, is located underneath the SkyTrain Expo Line, and was one of the dozens of open parks built in 1986 as part of BC Transit's Parkway Program showcasing different cultural parks on the 26-kilometre path that parallels the SkyTrain. Many ethnic communities created legacies on the linear park under the Skytrain in 1986. Highly visible in the front of the park are a wooden arch, a very distinctive-colorful Sarimanok logo, and 2 walls made up of 2,000 red bricks donated by Filipino-Canadians representing the pioneers of the plaza. Construction of the park was made possible with the bayanihan spirit of Filipino-Canadian members of the "Filipino Plaza Committee of 1985." The designer of the Sarimanok logo and the park itself was a Filipino. The committee led the effort of the many Filipino in raising enough money for the plaza.”

“I honestly can't recommend the Take Root Gardens team highly enough. It is such a refreshing change to work with contractors who take pride in their work, are totally trustworthy and have the integrity to stand by their work. Take Root worked with us to come up with an excellent layout design for our back yard including planting plans so we can enjoy time out there as a family. They also did an excellent job implementing the design which included extensive hardscaping, addressing drainage issues, and raised bed planter boxes. We couldn't be happier and can't wait until the spring so we can spend more time out there. My elderly neighbour who likes to "supervise" also commented on their work ethic, noting how hard they worked. Thanks for being so great to work with Matt & Ty!”
