“Mediocre at best. Had the butter chicken burrito, which was ok, but nothing to write home about. The staff member who served us did not seem to understand food preparation. If you need to heat chicken in the oven, don't wait until the wrap is ready before starting the chicken. The chicken was standard chicken that they use for everything with a little butter chicken sauce added to it and then heated. The rice to butter chicken ratio was way off. If I wanted a rice burito, that's what I would have ordered. I am pretty sure the chicken just walked through my burrito and kept going. While we were waiting, we noticed a huge pile of doniar meat being cut off the spit and left there. Pretty sure that is not safe food handling procedure. It should probably be refrigerated if it is not going to be used promptly. When you see how much is cut off each time, that pile had been there for a while. I'm hoping that it was an off day when we were there. Based on this experience, I am not sure if I will go back to this location.”

“It blows my mind how quickly people forget it was less than a year ago you would have paid good money for Shanghai noodles mixed in an old boot under a bridge in Dartmouth during the pandemic. You were so grateful to anyone willing to stay open as an essential business to make sure you could fill your face when you were too tired to cook after all that doing nothing, because you were home from work collecting CERB. Now you’re right back to complaining about the chicken in your friend rice being lukewarm while a small business like this one tries to crawl it’s way back from what I can only imagine was the worst 2 years of business they’ve experienced. Show some support. This man has always been kind and friendly when we’ve eaten in and the portions are more than generous for the price. Good Canadian Chinese food, we’ll be back for more!”

“My go-to donair shop when visiting family in Halifax. I usually get the donair sub. The guys at the counter and the cooks are hard workers and very friendly. There is a fairly large sitting area also. They also sell take out donair meat for $10 a pound and their own bottles of donair sauce for $6. I recommend.”

“So I decided to give this place a try on a very busy night (Saturday), and I got to say I'm very impressed. The buffet included a nice selection of meat and it was all delicious. My favorite cut was the pork belly, but generally it was all great. They had a paste that we were told they make in house and it was incredible, I had to get another serving of it. Portions were good, but that doesn't matter because it's a buffet and you can ask for more of ANYTHING you want. The service was excellent, we were taken care of from minute one. The server was very diligent and helpful, she got us our food fairly fast and was very informative when we asked questions about the food. When we asked for more food, we got it really fast. Overall a great experience, I would definitely recommend trying this place and I'm definitely coming back for more.”

“First of all we went on a Friday evening and I would recommend getting there as close to 5 as possible. If you wait until 6 you're going to have a 30-45 minute wait. We were seated promptly and the service overall was very good. We had fried avocados as an appetizer and they were delicious just like our waitress said. Next for our main course my daughter had enchiladas w/rice and bean and I had a burrito bowl. My daughter was very pleased with her food as was I. I know they just moved to this new location but everything seemed like it was going to work out just fine for them and it's closer for us so it's a win win.”

“It has been several years since I last went to Jack Astor's. I recently went with a friend who was looking after her 3 grandchildren, aged 5, and twins 8. It was a Saturday around noon and the restaurant was not too full. There was no wait for a table and our server arrived to take our drink order. We spent a few minutes looking over the menus and decided our order before the drinks arrived. The kids had crayons and puzzle menus to keep them busy. Our food arrived promptly, as ordered and was very good. Just as I remembered. The other thing I remembered was the loud music that is always playing! The kids were occupied with the sports on the many TV screens throughout but it was impossible to carryon any type of conversation. The food is the only reason I would consider returning to Jack Astor's but there are too many similar restaurants around that are more suited to actually enjoying a good conversation with good food, but then, I also do not have my phone stuck to my hand, either.”

“Went here for the first time the other day with the husband and we indulged in an amazing meal. Prices are a little higher than your typical sit-down, but we'll worth it. The atmosphere is somehow this perfect mix of fancy but so casual and relaxed. Nightly drink sale was the best Peach Bellini I ever had for $6. Mosaic dip app was amazing. Mushroom steak sirloin was amazing. Mint chocolate gelato was amazing. Am excited to return in the future. Worth all the hype we had heard about it.”

“First time in a while for a visit to Boston Pizza. I rarely eat out but I was housebound with a broken arm and had a chance to have a meal out with family. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. It was noon on a Saturday and not extremely busy. Our server arrived quickly and gave us information on some of the extensive menu items. She was aware of my and made a few suggestions to make my meal easier to eat. Orders taken and correct meals arrived hot and extremely tasty. None of my party was able to finish our meal and the server was there to offer to package the leftovers for us. The bill was brought with our leftovers (we had to deny the delicious sounding desserts) and we were on our way. A very relaxing meal in a great and friendly restaurant! I recommend it to any group, friends or family. P. S. They have a sports bar for the more relaxed groups.”

“This is how you do something right. Large menu'd restaurants have a tendency to stretch themselves thin. Here you have a decent variety, but nothing huge. And everything on their menu is done to perfection. Not just that, but their prices certainly would be hard to beat. While I enjoy everything on the menu, my recommendation is with their burgers. Massive, fully loaded, and a ton of flavor. To top that off, they have a very friendly staff. Will certainly keep going back.”
