Was a great trail for the most part. There were definitely more challenging areas in the western section going up and down the hills and valleys. Took me around 3 hours, stopping occasionally to take pictures at the view areas and to catch my breath.
However, there were a few points where the trail was not clearly marked. The most confusing was in the area around the quarry. If you are coming from viewpoints 5 & 4 and going toward 3, 2 & 1, then you eventually come to a three way crossroad with no visible markers. If you go straight, you end up going to the water and a trail with a sign that says private property. This needs to be fixed. You will most likely wonder in circles for a few minutes before finding a couple of blue direction arrows.
Also, view point 3, 2 and 1 are not marked like 4 and 5 so it might be hard to figure out how much further you have based on the viewpoints if you're looking at the map.
If you are going for the breathtaking view you really only need to go down the trail to viewpoint 4 and when the trail takes you back to the road, you can walk back to your car. Views 3, 2 and 1 are nice but not as good. But that's just my opinion.
Not difficult but wear proper footwear. Awesome place to go for a hike! Awesome views! Awesome photo ops! Definitely recommend going in the fall!
Nice afternoon hike on this trail today. A fair number of steep climbs and descents on a well walked and marked trail.took me less than 90 minutes witha few shorts stops and a steady pace
We only did a portion of this trail as an add-on to doing the Crests of Kennisis Trail. This meant having 2 cars, one at each trailhead. If you are just doing the Five Viewpoints Trail, it is a loop and will bring you back to where you started.
The part we did hike was quite beautiful, with some nice, high, viewpoints overlooking the valley.
A couple of the viewpoints are also very close to the trailhead if you were not interested in hiking, but wanted to get a good view of the area... especially nice in Autumn.
If you are an out-of-shape, 77 year old male who spends most of his time in front of a computer then you should be able to accomplish the Circuit of Five Viewpoints hike in under 2.5 hours. Please note that having hiking boots and poles will help, as will the promise to yourself that an ice cream awaits you at the Kawartha Dairy in Minden should you survive. We would recommend walking the trail starting from the parking lot at 1981 Little Hawk Lake Road and take time to enjoy all the friendly chipmunks as well as the scenery.
