“1. The profits from these stores go to affordable townhomes like Centreville built right there in Oshawa! Soooo good to see it benefiting the community like that! 2. I was sad to see the Ajax store close but I was glad to see many are now there in Shwa. People- the "employees" there are actually volunteers who give of their time. (I used to be one of them). 3. The items are such an eclectic mix of new and used, antique and modern, you just HAVE TO check regularly for awesome deals! XD Just know beforehand what kind of prices they exist at retail and always bring a tape measure when you come. 4. This summer I've found some nice unused 12"/16"/20" laminate pine and trim for a steal of a deal, porcelain tiles and bathroom fixtures that were current in style. I've also managed to find some great unused cans of stain and finish so that was an awesome adventure. I have my eyes set next in the granite counters I saw there as my kitchen is next to do. 5. The staff go out of their way to help you- they may not be formally trained to be a cashier but their willingness to help is where it counts. Every time they've helped load my car too. Just a bunch of kind hearted people here who represent Durham. Love this organization and what it stands for.”

“I went to sleep country in Whitby, where the staff were very pushy, and the mattresses quite expensive. I needed a mattress and box spring for a guest bedroom, that doesn’t get used very often, and was feeling pressured at Sleep Country. Sleep factory was my next stop. Very friendly owner welcomed us when we came in. He asked what we were looking for and showed us our options. From there he left us to try all the beds in our own good time. I finally picked one. With the purchase, comes a free set of sheets or a mattress cover. I needed a mattress cover, but they were out, so the owner gave me a more expensive one. The mattress was in stock, so they loaded it in my truck, and I was on my way! The bottom line is they have great customer service, great selection, and I will refer them to anyone looking for a mattress.”

“We cannot say enough about Gum Tree. We have a 1927 house and have had many contractors through the years, and no one is as professional as this crew. We had a unique space that needed to be built, and we went through many re drafts and numerous measures to make sure everything was just right. Amanda and Corey were extremely patient and wanted everything to be perfect. When it came to install day, everything went perfectly. A door had a small imperfection and immediately Corey said another was on order, I didn’t even have to ask. Looking forward to our next project with Gum Tree Cabinets!”

“Love our new carpet! After reading great reviews online I called Father and Sons Flooring, Shawn came out the same day to give us an estimate. Their prices were great and we were very happy with the selection of options Shawn brought for us to pick from. Our carpet was ordered and installed the following week. On install day they removed our ugly old carpet and left everything spotless. We love our new carpet, the quality of the under padding and carpet is terrific. We were beyond impressed with the level of customer service and professionalism from the start to finish of the job.
